Streptocide

Streptocide – the antimicrobic medicine relating to group of chemotherapeutic drugs with bacteriostatic action in relation to streptococci, gonokokka, meningokokka, colibacillus, pneumococci and other bacteria.

Structure and form of release

Drug is produced in the following dosage forms:

• The tablets of white color containing 300 and 500 mg of streptocide in packagings on ten pieces;
• Streptotsidny ointment of 5% and 10% on a vaseline basis, in tubas on 25, 30 or 50 g;
• The suspension of 5% containing streptocide of 5 g, methyl-isopropyl phenol of 0,5 g, the distilled water of 69,75 g, and emulsifier of 20 g;
• Linimentum of 5% which part are streptocide of 5 g, animal fat of 3,1 g, lime water of 57,9 g, fish oil of 34 g, in banks on 25 or 30 g.

Streptocide analogs

Structural analogs of Streptocide on active ingredient: Streptonitol, Osartsid, Streptocide.

In addition, produce the following drugs of Streptocide:

• Streptocidum solubile in the form of white powder. This analog of Streptocide, thanks to good solubility in water, can be applied not only inside, but also intramusculary, subcutaneously and intravenously;
• Ointment Sunorephum as a part of which are present streptocide, eucalyptus oil, Sulfadimezinum, camphor, ephedrine a hydrochloride, Norsulfazolum. Ointment is applied locally to treatment of chronic and acute rhinitises.

Pharmacological action

According to the instruction Streptocide possesses bacteriostatic action. By the efficiency drug substantially concedes to modern antibiotics. Now the set of strains of microorganisms, in particular hospital, are unreceptive to treatment by streptocide.

Drug affects gram-negative and gram-positive cocci, chlamydias, gram-negative sticks, nokardiya, the elementary. Activity of streptocide increases in the alkaline environment.

To treatment by streptocide anaerobe bacterias, a pyocyanic stick, enterococci are unreceptive.

At Streptocide use inside it is quickly soaked up, in 1-2 hours its maximum concentration in a blood plasma is observed.

Indications to Streptocide use

According to the instruction Streptocide is shown:

• at chronic and acute gonorrhea;
• at wound fevers;
• at colitis;
• at epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis;
• at quinsy and various coccal infections;
• at a pyelitis;
• at collibacillary cystitis.

Treatment by Streptocide is especially effective at the infections caused by a beta and hemolitic streptococcus (puerperal sepsis, an erysipelatous inflammation of skin, streptococcal pneumonia, etc.).

Streptocide route of administration

According to the instruction Streptocide is appointed inside at bacillar and coccal diseases. As a rule, the dosage for adults makes 0,5-1 g on reception from four to six times a day, but no more than seven times.

At wound fevers with a purulent complication, for treatment of the infected burns appoint introduction to a wound of powder, linimentum or ointment of Streptocide.

The maximum dosage of drug for adults:

• 2 g – one-time;
• 7 g – daily.

Contraindications

Use of Streptocide is contraindicated at:

• heavy liver or renal failure;
• anemias;
• porphyrias;
• azotemias;
• to inborn shortage glyukozo-6-fosfatdegidrogenazy;
• pregnancy and breastfeeding;
• hypersensitivity to drug components.

Treatment by Streptocide to contraindicated newborn children as it causes a kernicterus.

Drug in the form of tablets is contraindicated to children up to three years.

Streptocide by-effects

In the instruction to Streptocide the following by-effects are specified:

• System of a hemopoiesis: thrombocytopenia, hemolitic anemia.
• Allergic reactions: small tortoiseshell, acute anaphylaxis, skin itch, Stephens-Johnson's syndrome, Lyell's disease.
• Urinary system: a crystalluria at acid reaction of urine.
• Digestive tract: tranzitorny change of activity of liver enzymes, vomiting, nausea.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms following: headache, vomiting, nausea, cyanosis, dizziness.

In case of overdose it is necessary to carry out symptomatic therapy.

Medicinal interaction of Streptocide

At treatment by drug or an analog of Streptocide it is necessary to consider that the novocaine and other drugs with similar chemical structure containing the rest of paraaminobenzoic acid can show anti-sulfanamide action.

Storage conditions

Drug is stored in the dry dark place. The period of validity of tablets of Streptocide makes ten years, ointments – four years, linimentum – one and a half years.
