Temodal

Temodal (the international name - Temozolomid) treats group of the antineoplastic drugs interfering development of new growths and recovering an organism during chemotherapy.

Structure and form of release of Temodal

The main active ingredient – темозоломид 5 mg.

Auxiliary components: starch, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, tartaric acid, lactose.

Temodal is issued in capsules on 5, 20, 100 and 250 mg. Each capsule is covered with the cover consisting of titanium dioxide, gelatin, oxide of yellow iron, indigo carmine, sodium lauryl sulfate.

Pharmacological properties of Temodal

Temodal possesses the expressed alkylating action as a result of which the braking mechanism of development of tumoral educations and an obstacle to cell fission is started.

Temodal has good responses as quickly soaking up drug with approach of medical effect within an hour after the first reception.

Temodal is brought from an organism through kidneys with urine within 24 hours. Drug forms bonds with proteins of a blood plasma.

Active ingredients of Temodal do not cause serious violations of functioning of kidneys and a liver.

Indications to Temodal's use

Temodal is appointed for treatment of oncological diseases:

• glioblastoma (multiformny type) of a brain;
• glial tumor of a brain;
• melanomas.

Temodal received positive reviews as effective drug for prevention of a recurrence and elimination of progressive processes of oncological diseases.

Application instruction of Temodal

According to the instruction Temodal need to accept adults and children from 3 years on an empty stomach 2 times a day - 100 mg. Treatment duration without chemotherapy makes 28 days.

At combined use of Temodal and radiation therapy the dosage has to make 150 mg of 1 times a day during the first cycle of treatment, and in the second cycle of treatment - 200 mg of 1 times a day. The exact daily dose has to be defined by the attending physician, depending on diagnostic testimonies of the patient. The course of treatment can be divided into 6 periods with breaks or decrease in a dosage between them. The general course of treatment drug of oncological diseases makes 2 years.

According to the instruction Temodal at a recurrence of a glioblastoma of multiformny type is appointed on 75 mg of 1 times a day within 42 days with carrying out radiotheraphy.

During treatment women can have an unplanned ovulation therefore it is necessary to accept effective contraceptives.

Temodal can cause periodic attacks of vomiting therefore according to the recommendation of the attending physician antiemetic therapy is appointed.

During treatment the patients managing vehicles and working at dangerous objects need to suspend the activity.

Contraindications

Contraindications to Temodal's appointment are hypersensitivity and intolerance of components of drug, pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding, children's age up to 3 years, hemorrhagic cystitis, a serious hereditary illness (a lactose intolerance, disbolism, etc.), a renal failure.

With care drug it is necessary to appoint aged more senior than 60 years, at a liver failure, at heavy stages of a course of gynecologic diseases.

Side effects of Temodal

Temodal can cause the following side effects:

• from system of digestion – anorexia, a hyperglycemia, a lock, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a loss of appetite, dyspepsia, decrease in body weight, a gastroenteritis, an incontience a calla, a meteorism, disturbances of functioning of a liver, hemorrhoids;

• from urinogenital system – decrease a libido, uterine bleedings, painful ejaculations, candidiasis, herpes, a hypercorticoidism syndrome, an urine incontience, impotence, a vaginitis;
• from circulatory system – a leukopenia, neurosinging, anemia, dot hemorrhages in mucous membranes;
• from cardiovascular system – hypostases, arrhythmia, tachycardia, a hypertension;
• from respiratory system – a bronchospasm, short wind, pneumonia, a fluid lungs, bronchitis;
• from the central nervous system – dizziness, sleeplessness, confusion of consciousness, a syncope, disturbances of perception and coordination, a hallucination, memory disturbance, a neuropathy, a tremor, increased fatigue, an alalia, a depression, epilepsy, amnesia, behavioural frustration of mentality.
