Injection

Injection (infusio; synonym: infusion) – parenteral (passing digestive tract) introduction to an organism of large volumes of liquid (for example, blood, medicines, blood substitutes).

Types of injection:

  • Intra aortal (intraaortalis) – liquid is entered into an aorta; it is used in the diagnostic purposes (at arteriography, an aortografiya), for bystry compensation of blood loss when carrying out thoracic surgery, etc.;
  • Intra arterial (intraarterialis) – liquid is forced in an artery; it is used at therapy of terminal states, and also for creation in the center of pathological process of high level of content of medicines;
  • Intraperitoneal (intraperitonealis) – administration of liquid in a peritoneal cavity; it is used for the prevention and treatment of peritonitis;
  • Intravenous (intravenosa) – liquid is entered into a venous vessel, it can be carried out kapelno or struyno;
  • Intra bone (intraossea) – administration of liquid in spongy substance (an internal part) of a bone, most often use a calcaneal hillock;
  • Intrauterine (intrauterina) – liquid is entered into a cavity of the uterus; it is used for a X-ray contrast research, abortion, etc.;
  • Intramuscular (intramuscularis) – administration of liquid in thickness of a muscle, preferential, big buttock;
  • Intrapleural (intrapleuralis) – liquid is entered into a pleural cavity;
  • Zaobolochechny (historical) – administration of medicinal solution for covers of fetal egg for abortion on late terms;
  • Drop (guttatim) – carried out by means of devices which provide slow (from 40 to 60 drops 1 minute) administration of liquid in a muscle, a vein, a bone or under skin;
  • Hypodermic (subcutanea) – liquid is entered into a hypodermic fatty tissue, as a rule, on the anteroexternal surface of a hip;
  • Jet – carried out discontinuous (at intra arterial introduction) or a continuous flow, by gravity or by means of the forcing equipment.
