Максидекс

Максидекс – the synthetic fluorinated glucocorticosteroid drug with the antiinflammatory, desensibilizing, antiallergic action expressed.

Form of release and structure

Dosage forms:

• Drops eye 0,1%: opaque solution from light yellow till white color (5 ml in a polyethylene bottle dropper, in a cardboard pack 1 bottle);
• Oculentum of 0,1%: dense weight with homogeneous structure from white with a yellow shade till white color (on 3,5 g in an aluminum tuba, in a cardboard pack 1 tuba).

Active ingredient of Maksideks – dexamethasone:

• 1 ml of drops: 0,001 g;
• 1 g of ointment: 0,001 g.

Auxiliary components:

• Drops: a benzalkoniya chloride, polysorbate 80, dinatrium hydrophosphate anhydrous, sodium chloride, dinatrium эдетат, a gipromelloza 4000 мПа.с (gidroksipropilmetiltsellyuloz), sodium hydroxide and/or citric acid monohydrate, the water purified;
• Ointment: vaseline white, methylparahydroxybenzoate, lanolin anhydrous liquid, пропилпарагидроксибензоат.

Indications to use

• Inflammatory pathologies of front department of an eye: chronic and acute form of a uveitis, iritis, cyclitis, iridocyclitis;
• Blepharitis, conjunctivitis (seasonal, allergic, catarral), keratoconjunctivitis;
• Prevention and treatment of processes of an inflammation after carrying out surgeries;
• Corrosive and thermal burns (after a complete recovery of an epithelium of a cornea).

Contraindications

• Disturbance of integrity of an epithelium of a cornea;
• Acute purulent diseases of eyes;
• Viral pathologies of a conjunctiva and cornea, including a keratitis, the caused herpes simplex (a treelike keratitis) and chicken pox;
• Diseases of eyes of a fungal etiology;
• Mikobakterialny infections of eyes;
• Breastfeeding period;
• Age up to 18 years;
• Individual intolerance of components of drug.

Due to the lack of sufficient experience in Maksideks's use during pregnancy, it is recommended to appoint drug, having weighed the expected therapeutic effect for mother and risk of possible development of undesirable effects for a fruit.

Route of administration and dosage

Drops are eye
Drops apply locally, digging in in a conjunctival sac of each eye.

Frequency rate of instillations and duration of treatment are appointed by the doctor on the basis of clinical indications.

The recommended dosing mode: on 1-2 drops every 3-6 hours within 2-3 weeks.

Before each procedure contents of a bottle should be shaken up!

Oculentum
Ointment is intended for topical administration by a mortgaging for a lower eyelid of each eye of a strip 1-1,5 cm long 2-3 times a day. Duration of treatment is 2-3 weeks.

Side effects

Prolonged use of Maksideks can cause side effects:

• From body of visual system: increase in intraocular pressure with risk of the subsequent development of the steroid glaucoma affecting an optic nerve and fields of vision, formation of a back subkapsulyarny cataract, perforation of a cornea at the pathologies causing its thinning (because of effect of drug on delay of processes of healing of wounds);
• Others: a fungal infection of a cornea (emergence of not healing ulcers on a cornea).

Besides, development of a consecutive bacterial infection against the background of suppression of defense reaction of an organism of the patient, allergic reactions is possible.

At acute forms of purulent pathologies of eyes glucocorticosteroids are capable to strengthen or hide a clinical picture of the available infectious process.

Special instructions

Maksideks's use should be accompanied more than 10 days with regular measurement of intraocular pressure, careful control of a condition of a cornea.

Simultaneous use of two forms of drug is shown: drops – during the day, ointment – before going to bed.

At the combined local therapy with other ophthalmologic means it is necessary to observe an interval between their use of 10 minutes and more.

Patients with contact lenses are recommended to remove them before each use of drops and only 20 minutes later to establish again.

Contents of a bottle need to be preserved with observance of rules of an asepsis, the dropper tip touch to any surfaces is forbidden, after each procedure the bottle should be closed densely.

Patients in whom use of drug causes temporary decrease in clearness of sight are recommended to refrain from control of vehicles and mechanisms until a complete recovery of visual perception.

Medicinal interaction

Medicinal interaction with other at the same time applied means is not established.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature: drops – 8-25 °C, ointment – 8-30 °C.

Period of validity: drops – 3 years, ointment – 4 years.

After opening of a bottle of a drop are suitable for use within 1 month.
