Stomach muscles – the group of muscles located in an abdominal cavity and providing protection of the vitals located in it.

Structure of muscles of a stomach

Distinguish from group of muscles of a stomach:

  • The direct muscle of a stomach attached to a xiphoidal shoot of a breast, cartilages of the V-VII edges and to a pubic bone. It is a long muscle which belongs to a front wall of an abdominal cavity. Muscle fibers of a direct muscle of a stomach are interrupted by several cross crossing points from sinews which promote formation of "cubes" of a press on a stomach;
  • The cross muscle of a stomach attached to a lateral third of an inguinal sheaf and a crest of an ileal bone;
  • The internal oblique muscle of a stomach located rather deeply and attached to an ileal crest and cartilages of the lower edges;
  • The outside oblique muscle of a stomach located directly under skin and attached to an ileal crest, a pubic symphysis and the outside surface of the V-XII edges.

The white line of a stomach represents a tendinous strip of connection of direct muscles of a stomach. It begins a xiphoidal shoot of a breast and comes to an end with a pubic symphysis. The white line in an upper part quite wide and at the level of a navel makes from 2 to 2,5 see below umbilical area it is narrowed and thickened in the perednezadny direction.

The umbilical ring consisting of cicatricial fabric is located almost on the middle of the white line and connects to navel skin.

Light color of the white line of a stomach is caused first of all by poverty of blood vessels that is used in need of carrying out operations on an abdominal cavity, for example, of kesarevy section.

Function of muscles of a stomach

Muscles of a stomach hold the bodies located in an abdominal cavity. Narrowing an abdominal cavity and forming a so-called prelum abdominale, muscles of a stomach put pressure upon internals which are concluded in it. It is shown at cough, vomiting, acts of an urination, defecation, and also at childbirth. In addition to this group of muscles the diaphragm takes part in protection of abdominal organs.

Stomach muscles participate also in the respiratory movements, delaying edges from top to bottom that promotes an exhalation.

Besides, it is possible to allocate functions of each of stomach muscles:

  • Outside oblique muscles of a stomach are involved at trunk inclinations forward, and also at turns. Also they take part at a raising and transfer of heavy objects. These muscles are in constant activity, supporting the case in vertical position;
  • Internal oblique muscles are involved when bending a backbone, and together with outside oblique muscles are necessary for turns of the case and lowering of edges;
  • Direct muscles are necessary for bending of a backbone as they are antagonists of the muscles unbending it.

Strengthening of muscles of a stomach

Muscles of a stomach perform a set of functions therefore they are recommended to be supported in a tone.

Exercises for muscles of a stomach can be picked up independently or to follow the certain systems developed for strengthening of a prelum abdominale. For achievement of the maximum effect of exercises for muscles of a stomach it is regularly recommended to give classes.

Strengthening of muscles of a stomach after the delivery should be begun with care as because of slackness of this group of muscles it is possible to put easily an injury, including an epigastrocele. It is necessary to remember that after the delivery it is possible to hold intensive trainings on strengthening of muscles of a stomach not earlier, than in half a year after them.

As a rule, after the intensive trainings of a muscle of a stomach hurt that is connected with release of lactic acid. Usually in several days pain passes. To avoid developing of pains in muscles of a stomach or several they should be reduced:

  • To be engaged in physical exercises regularly, increasing load of this group of muscles gradually;
  • Before the intensive training of a muscle it is necessary to warm not less than 15 minutes to prepare them for loading;
  • After the training to warm up muscles which underwent strong tension for what it is recommended to carry out exercises on an extension. Besides, it is possible to take a heat salt bath or to use the warming ointment which should be rubbed the easy movements to painful areas.

Muscles of a stomach not only from intensive trainings, but also from performance of unusual physical activity which causes the long tension of this group of muscles hurt. To reduce pain in this case, as a rule, it is enough to take a hot bath or to descend in a bath.
