Cones of a pine ordinary have the elongated and ovoid form, and winged gray seeds of a tree ripen usually for second or third. Also in the description of a pine ordinary it is told that kidneys and needles of a tree contain many useful substances – to 0,5% of essential oils, tannic and bitter substances, vitamin C and pitches.

Pine kidneys collect in the spring before they are dismissed. They contain in a large number essential oils and pitches, and also bitter and tannins, starch and mineral salts. Dry collected kidneys at a temperature not above 20-25 °C, it is the best of all under a canopy or on an attic.

The needles of a pine ordinary are rich with vitamin C and carotene. It is used for receiving the essential oil which is widely applied to treatment of rheumatic diseases. It is recommended to collect needles of a pine ordinary in the winter or late fall when in it the greatest number of essential oil and ascorbic acid.

Pitch or gallipot of a pine ordinary are usually collected from the trees which are subject to the cabin. It is not necessary to store the prepared raw materials more than 2 years.

Use of a pine ordinary

The pine ordinary as a medicinal plant was used long since for compresses and poultices, and the tree pitch which is the embalming parts of Ancient Egypt keeps the bactericidal properties throughout the millennia. Also curative properties of a pine ordinary in many countries applied to treatment of catarrhal diseases and to disinfection of an oral cavity.

In the medical purposes use needles, pitch, kidneys and cones of a tree which render the expectorant, vitamin, irritating, cholagogue, diuretic, antimicrobic and antiinflammatory action. In traditional medicine they are applied at a pulmonary tuberculosis and diseases of respiratory bodies, an edema, neuralgia, rheumatism, gout, rickets, a scurvy, skin diseases, and also against insects parasites and as a blood clearer. In addition, from a pine ordinary receive tar, turpentine, wood vinegar and rosin.

Cones of a pine ordinary apply in the form of infusion and tinctures at heartaches and as styptic means. For preparation of infusion for treatment of cardiac pains the green pinecones collected in the spring fill up in bank, fill in with vodka and insist in the dark place within a week. It is the best of all to accept the received infusion to food, three times a day on one tablespoon.

Buds of a pine ordinary use in the form of water infusions and broths at bronchitis, dropsy, rheumatism, diseases of a liver and digestive tract as expectorant, disinfecting, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and cholagogue agent.

For preparation of broth from pine kidneys one tablespoon of raw materials is filled in with a glass of hot boiled water and heated on the boiling water bath within half an hour. Accept several times a day after food on a quarter of a glass. Ordinary it is possible to store the prepared broth from buds of a pine no more than 2 days.

For infusion preparation the needles of a pine need to be pounded previously with a small amount of cold boiled water then to add 3-or a 9-fold proportion of water and to boil for 20-40 minutes. For preparation of infusion for bathtubs from needles or pine kidneys, 0,5-1 kg of raw materials fill in 3 l of boiled water and insist within 3 hours. For treatment of abscesses it is possible to use broth from needles, branches and cones of a pine ordinary which boil previously for half an hour and insist within 12 hours.

The turpentine received from a pine ordinary is used for treatment of a sciatica, a lumbar ishialgia, neuralgia, arthritises, miozit, rheumatism and gout as local irritating and anesthetic. Tar is applied outwardly as antiparasitic and disinfectant at scaly herpes, eczemas and itch, and gallipot – to treatment of ulcers and long not healing wounds.

Contraindications

Broths and pine infusions ordinary should be taken with caution at hypersensitivity, and also at a serious illness of kidneys. Bathtubs from needles of a tree are contraindicated at a severe hypertension, cardiovascular diseases with blood circulation disturbance, infectious diseases of skin, malignant new growths, and also existence of acute inflammatory processes. At external use of turpentine it is necessary to consider that it can cause a hyperemia of integuments, and in large numbers leads to the excitement of the central nervous system which is shown as sleeplessness, short wind, concern and increase in arterial pressure.
