Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis (atherosclerosis; Greek athere – liquid porridge, gruel, adjournment of soft, pasty substances + Greek sklerosis – consolidation, hardening) – a chronic disease at which lipoid infiltration of an internal cover of arteries of the mixed and elastic type with the subsequent emergence in their wall of connecting fabric is observed. Clinically atherosclerosis is shown by local and/or general circulatory disturbances, a part from which is allocated in separate nosological forms.
