Pressure chamber

Pressure chamber (Greek barys – weight, pressure + and lat. camera – the arch, the room) – the airtight camera which is usually made of metal or the room in which creation set raised (compression B.) or lowered (vacuum B.) pressure of air (gases) is possible; in B.'s medicine trainings of high-rise stability are applied to a research of impact of changes of barometric pressure upon a human body, to a barotherapy. Types of pressures chamber: the operating room (B. which sizes and the equipment give a performance opportunity in the camera of surgeries with the set pressure and composition of air or mix of gases); therapeutic (B. which sizes and the equipment give an opportunity of long stay in the camera of one or several patients for treatment with the set pressure and structure of the gas environment).
