Peritoneum

Peritoneum [peritoneum – PNA (The anatomic nomenclature Parisian); peritonaeum – BNA (The anatomic nomenclature Basel), JNA (The anatomic nomenclature Yenskaya)] – the serous cover covering from within a wall of an abdominal cavity and covering some of its bodies, having ability to rezorbirovat suspensions and liquids, and to cosecrete serous liquid, and also performing barrier function.

Types of a peritoneum:

  • Visceral (viscerale – PNA (The anatomic nomenclature Parisian); synonym: a peritoneum splanchnic) – a part of a peritoneum which covers the bodies which are in a stomach cavity;
  • Parietal (parietale – PNA (The anatomic nomenclature Parisian); synonym: a peritoneum pristenochny) – a part of a peritoneum which covers an internal surface in an abdominal wall.
