Absorbable gelatin sponge
Application instruction:
Absorbable gelatin sponge – antihemorrhagic (styptic) means of topical administration.
Form of release and structure
Dosage form: a sponge of 50х50 mm or 90х90 mm in size (1 piece in a two-layer plastic bag, in a cardboard pack 1 package).
The operating components of 1 g of a sponge:
- Collagen in the form of 2% of substance-solution – 980 mg;
- Nitrofural – 7,5 mg;
- Boric acid – 12,5 mg.
Indications to use
- Parenchymatous and capillary bleedings;
- Damages of integuments;
- Bleedings from sine of a firm meninx;
- Trophic ulcers;
- Alveolar bleeding;
- Decubituses;
- Filling of defects of parenchymatous bodies;
- Otitis;
- Bleedings are nasal;
- Hemostasis at dental interventions.
Contraindications
Use of an absorbable gelatin sponge is contraindicated at arterial bleeding and hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Route of administration and dosage
The sponge is used locally for packing of a wound.
After imposing on the bleeding surface the sponge becomes impregnated with blood in 3-5 minutes and densely adjoins to a wound. If bleeding does not stop, it is necessary to impose the second layer. In need of increase in haemo static effect the sponge can be impregnated with thrombin solution. After a blood loss stop the absorbable gelatin sponge should be recorded a P-shaped seam.
Side effects
Use of drug can cause side effects in the form of secondary infection or allergic reactions.
Medicinal interaction
Haemo static action of a sponge strengthens its additional wetting in thrombin.
