Xysophorin

Xysophorin – the local vasoconstrictive medicine applied in the LOR-expert.

Form of release and structure

Xysophorin is produced in the following dosage forms:

• Drops are nasal: colourless, transparent (on 10 ml in polyethylene bottles droppers, on 1 bottle in a cardboard pack);
• Spray nasal: colourless, transparent (on 10 or 15 ml in dark glass bottles complete with the sprayer, on 1 bottle in a cardboard pack).

Nasal is a part of 1 ml of drops:

• Active agent: xylomethazolinum – 0,5 or 1 mg (in the form of a hydrochloride);
• Auxiliary components: эдетат dinatrium, a hydrosodium phosphate dihydrate, a dihydrosodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, chloride a benzalkoniya (in the form of 10% of solution a benzalkoniya), the purified water.

Nasal is a part of 1 ml of spray:

• Active agent: xylomethazolinum – 0,5 or 1 mg (in the form of a hydrochloride);
• Auxiliary components (0,05%/0,1% solution respectively): эдетат dinatrium – 0,5/0,5 mg, a hydrosodium phosphate dihydrate – 2/2 mg, a dihydrosodium phosphate dihydrate – 2/2 mg, sodium chloride – 7,4/7,3 mg, chloride a benzalkoniya in the form of 10% of solution a benzalkoniya – 0,1/0,1 mg, the purified water – 991,5/991,1 mg.

Indications to use

• The acute respiratory diseases proceeding with rhinitis;
• Acute allergic rhinitis;
• Eustachitis;
• Sinusitis;
• Pollinosis;
• Average otitis (for decrease in expressiveness of hypostasis of a mucous membrane of a nasopharynx).

Also Ksimelin appoint for preparation for carrying out diagnostic manipulations in the nasal courses.

Contraindications

• Atrophic rhinitis;
• Arterial hypertension;
• The expressed atherosclerosis;
• Tachycardia;
• Glaucoma;
• Hyperthyroidism;
• The surgical interventions which are carried out on a meninx (in the anamnesis);
• Age up to 2 years (for 0,05% of solution), up to 6 years (for 0,1% of solution);
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

It is contraindicated to pregnant women to apply Ksimelin in the form of spray nasal, in the form of drops nasal – it is possible after assessment of a ratio of advantage of the carried-out therapy with possible harm for a fruit.

The feeding women Ksimelin in any dosage form can apply only on doctor's orders in cases when the advantage for health of mother is higher than harm for the child.

Xysophorin should be applied with care at a diabetes mellitus. At use of spray patients need also to be careful with stenocardia of the III-IV functional class and a hyperplasia of a prostate.

Route of administration and dosage

Xysophorin is appointed depending on age and a dosage form of drug:

• Children of 2-6 years: 0,05% solution, in each nostril – on 1-2 drops or to 1 injection;
• Children of 6 years and adults: 0,1% solution, in each nostril – on 2-3 drops or to 1 injection.

As a rule, Ksimelin apply 1-2 times a day (as much as possible – 3 times a day).

Without consultation of the doctor it is not recommended to carry out treatment longer than 7 days.

Side effects

During Ksimelin's use there can be following side effects:

• System reactions: seldom – a headache, tachycardia, a heart consciousness, arrhythmias, increase in arterial pressure, vomiting, a vision disorder, sleeplessness; at long therapy in high doses – a depression;
• Local reactions: at long and/or frequent use – sneezing, dryness and/or irritation of a mucous membrane of a nasopharynx, a pricking, burning, hypersecretion; seldom – the hypostasis localized in a mucous membrane of a nose.

Special instructions

It is not necessary to apply Ksimelin it is long (longer than 7 days), for example, at treatment of chronic rhinitis.

At use of drug in exceeding recommended doses it is necessary to be careful at control of motor transport or the equipment.

Medicinal interaction

It is not necessary to apply Ksimelin along with tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (increase in arterial pressure is possible).

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature of 15-25 °C.

Period of validity – 2 years.
