Mezim

Mezim – the fermental drug promoting digestion process.

Pharmacological action

Mezim possesses proteolytic (splits proteins to amino acids), amylolytic (promotes decomposition of starch to a madtoza and oligosaccharides) and lipolytic properties (splits fats to fatty acids and glycerin).

Active ingredient of drug is Pancreatinum representing enzymes of a pancreas of animals, as a rule, of pigs.

Analgeziruyushchy action of Mezim is caused by properties of trypsin, one of enzymes which suppresses excessive secretion of a pancreas.

Mezim's use allows to fill a lack of own enzymes, thereby having improved digestion of food. The special cover protects Pancreatinum from action of a gastric juice, allowing it to reach and be released in a small intestine. The maximum activity of enzymes can be observed in 30-45 minutes after oral administration of Mezim.

Mezim analogs represent the drugs which are containing Pancreatinum and having similar pharmacological effect.

It is possible to carry to Mezim's analogs Biozim, Gastenorm forte, Kreon, Pankreatin, Festal, Ermital.

Indications to Mezim's use

Mezim the instruction recommends to accept at:

• the diseases which are characterized by insufficiency of vneshnesekretorny function of a pancreas (chronic pancreatitis, a mucoviscidosis, etc.);
• chronic inflammatory and dystrophic diseases of a gall bladder, liver, intestines, stomach;
• states after a resection (operation on removal of a part of a stomach) or radiation of bodies of the alimentary system, a gall bladder, a liver which are followed by disturbance of digestion of food, diarrhea, a meteorism;
• errors in a diet, the use of unusual or greasy food for simplification of its digestion;
• disturbance of chewing function, long immovability or slow-moving way of life;
• to preparation for X-ray inspections or ultrasonography of abdominal organs.

Contraindications

Mezim it is not necessary to accept at acute pancreatitis, an exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, and also at hypersensitivity.

Mezim at pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to accept as adequate researches regarding safety of this drug were not conducted. Mezim at pregnancy can be appointed the doctor if alternative methods of treatment are inefficient.

Application instruction of Mezim

One tablet Mezim forte contains Pancreatinum in which the minimum enzymatic activity of a lipase makes 3500 PIECES, proteases – 250 PIECES and amylases – 4200 PIECES.

One tablet Mezim forte 10 000 contains Pancreatinum in which activity of a lipase, proteases and amylases makes 10000 PIECES, 375 PIECES and 7500 PIECES respectively.

The instruction recommends to accept Mezim before food, entirely, without breaking integrity of a cover, washing down with liquid in a large number (it is more preferable fruit juice, alkaline water). A usual single dose of drug – 1-2 tablets, if necessary during food an additional 1-4 pill can be taken. The average daily dose of Mezim for adults makes 150 thousand. Mezim will be suitable for drug storage the dark and dry place in which air temperature does not rise ^{higher than 250C}.
