Osarbon

Osarbon (the international non-proprietary name — ацетарсол) — the antimicrobic and disinfecting means applied in gynecologic practice (read: especially female half of the population). Osarbon it is possible to call one of "the last of Mohicans" since in modern medicine use of compounds of arsenic (which is ацетарсол) is minimized. But this fact should not worry consumers — Osarbon reasonably occupies the narrow therapeutic niche in modern gynecology and still remains demanded.

Release form

Osarbon has only one dosage form and is issued in the form of vaginal candles. One candle contains 250 mg of an atsetarsol and several excipients: glucose, boric acid and витепсол (about a special role of glucose it will be told below). Candles can have a little different coloring: from white to white with a cream or yellowish shade. Therefore if the bought candles differ on color from a little acquired earlier, it does not say that drug does not conform to requirements for quality or is forged.

Candles are packed into blisters on 5 pieces, in secondary packaging (a cardboard box) can be one or two such blisters together with the instruction to Osarbon on use.

Osarbon at capacities of the Russian pharmaceutical plant "Nizhpharm" is made that in Nizhny Novgorod.

Osarbon's analogs

There are no full chemical analogs of Osarbon on active ingredient. It is possible to give several medicines having use, similar to Osarbon, from the therapeutic point of view. Treat them:

• Betadin (Hungary);
• Geksikon (Russian Federation);
• Makmiror (Italy);
• Fluomizin (Germany);
• Vagotil (Poland).

There is, however, one more drug which part is ацетарсол. By the way, it is issued the same JSC Nizhpharm. These are the combined candles Osartsid which structure, in addition to above-mentioned substance, includes also streptocide.

Pharmacological action

The mechanism of action of an atsetarsol is based on its ability to interfere radically with exchange processes of some protozoa (a trichomonad, an amoeba, a spirochete) completely blocking their sulphhydryl fermental systems.

Many clinical physicians in the reviews of Osarbona emphasize importance of maintenance of acid medium in a vagina. Such conditions are necessary to avoid absorption of an atsetarsol and the subsequent intoxication of an organism against the background of its systemic action. For this purpose glucose was entered into composition of drug. The matter is that glucose (sometimes instead of it add a dextrose to candles that, in fact, is equivalent replacement) — fine "appetizing" substrate for life activity of lactobacilli of normal vulval microflora. The last also create those acid "surroundings" interfering a resorption of an atsetarsol: they promote glucose disintegration process therefore lactic acid is released. One more ingredient of Osarbon — boric acid — too performs function on decrease vulval рН.

Indications to Osarbon's use

In the instruction to Osarbon the only indication is provided to use of this medicine: mecotic colpitis. So narrow specialization of Osarbon since this disease by right is considered nearly the most common form of inflammatory vulval infections, sexually transmitted should not confuse patients. Apparently from the name, the colpitis is caused by a pathogenic bacterium a trichomonad.

The only indication to Osarbon's use demonstrates only that for other diseases there are more effective drugs. But a mecotic colpitis it is possible with the basis, full on that, to call Osarbon's ancestral lands.

Short application instruction

Before applying Osarbon to destination, it is necessary to give to the body lying situation, to take out a candle from the blister and to enter most deeply into a vagina. Frequency rate of reception — on 1 candle once a day. Treatment duration — 10 days.

Contraindications

Leaning on reviews of Osarbona and results of the researches conducted before registration of this drug it is possible to allocate the following contraindications for its reception:

• excess sensitivity to this medicine;
• insufficiency of functioning of kidneys and/or liver;
• diabetes mellitus;
• tuberculosis;
• pregnancy;
• hemorrhagic diathesis.

Side effect

As reviews of Osarbona testify, use of this drug does not involve a loop of undesirable side effects. Sometimes allergic reactions take place. Extremely seldom — hepatitis and a polyneuritis (total defeats of nerve fibrils).

Overdoses at Osarbon's use in medical practice are not registered.

At the moment researches about Osarbon's interaction with other drugs were not conducted.

Special instructions

According to the instruction to Osarbon this drug is implemented from drugstores according to the recipe of the doctor that is easily explainable since ацетарсол (we will remember his arsenous nature) is toxic agent.

Osarbon does not influence attention and speed of reaction during the driving of vehicles and work with dangerous mechanisms.

Term and storage conditions

Osarbon has to is stored at a temperature not over 25 ˚С in the place protected from direct sunshine.

The period of validity of Osarbon makes 3 years of date of issue.
