Pikamilon

Pikamilon – nootropic drug which expands brain vessels improves cerebral circulation and a functional condition of a brain, renders also antioxidant, antiagregantny, psychogogic, protivomigrenozny and tranquilizing action.

Form of release and structure

• Solution for intravenous (in/in) and intramuscular introduction (in oil) (on 2 ml in ampoules, on 10 ampoules in a cardboard pack; on 2 ml in ampoules, on 5 or 10 ampoules in blister strip packagings, on 1 or 2 packagings in a cardboard pack);
• Tablets: a ploskotsilindrichesky form, with a facet, color, white or white with a cream shade (on 10 pieces in packagings planimetric cell, on 3, 6 or 10 packagings in a cardboard pack; on 30 pieces in polymeric bottles, 1 bottle in a cardboard pack; on 30, 60 or 100 pieces in dark glass jars, 1 bank in a cardboard pack).

Active agent – N - nicotinoyl - gamma aminobutirovoy acids sodium salt, its contents in various dosage forms of drug:

• 1 ml of solution for in/in and introductions in oil – 50 or 100 mg;
• 1 tablet – 20 or 50 mg.

Auxiliary components of tablets: potato starch, hydroxycarbonate magnesium hydrate, talc, sucrose, stearic acid or calcium stearate.

Indications to use

• Asthenic states as a result of psychological diseases;
• Disturbances of cerebral circulation (acute ischemic disorders, subacute and recovery periods of an ischemic stroke, chronic insufficiency of cerebral circulation);
• Neuroinfections, craniocereberal injuries (as one of components of complex therapy);
• The states which are followed by fear, an acrimony, alarm and/or emotional lability;
• Prevention of migraine;
• Open angle glaucoma (drug is used for the purpose of stabilization of visual function);
• Neurosis tarda, and also adynamy, vegeto-vascular dystonia, depression or other depressive frustration at patients of advanced age;
• Treatment of an alcoholism (the purpose of use of Pikamilon – reduction of alcoholic encephalopathy, asthenoneurotic, asthenic, prerecurrent and post-psychotic states);
• Stopping of an acute drunkenness (as a part of a combination therapy);
• Improvement of portability of exercise and/or intellectual stresses (to people in extreme or intense conditions, and also to athletes);
• Frustration of an urination at adults and children are more senior than 3 years (drug allows to lower a hypoxia of a detruzor and to improve adaptation function of a bladder).

Contraindications

Absolute:

• Chronic renal failure;
• Pregnancy and feeding by a breast;
• Hypersensitivity to any of being a part of drug to a component.

Route of administration and dosage

Solution for in/in and introductions in oil
Pikamilon in these dosage forms enter intramusculary or intravenously (kapelno or slowly struyno).

Standard schemes of use of drug:

• Asthenic states: on 20-40 mg in days in oil a 1-month course (at the same time appoint Pikamilon in tablets);
• Chronic disturbances of cerebral circulation: on 100-200 mg 1 or 2 times a day. Based on a condition of the patient, the doctor applies one of the following schemes: administers the drug at first in/in within 10 days then – in oil; or throughout all course in the morning – in/in kapelno, in the evening – in oil. Treatment duration – from 15 to 30 days;
• Stopping of acute uncomplicated intoxication ethanol (as a part of a combination therapy): in an initiation of treatment – in the sating dose making 5 mg/kg, further in a maintenance dose – 1,56 mg/kg/h in 2,5 liters of infusion solution within 4 hours, frequency rate of use – 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening).

Tablets
Pikamilon in the tableted form it is necessary to accept inside regardless of meals (since it does not influence efficiency of drug).

Standard schemes of use of drug:

• Maintenance and increase in resistance of an organism to loadings: on 60-80 mg a day within 1-1,5 months. Athletes are recommended to accept drug during the training period (2 weeks);
• Depressions at elderly patients: depending on a clinical situation on 40-200 mg a day (it is optimum – on 60-120 mg) in 2-3 receptions by a course 1,5-3 months;
• Adynamy, psychoses: on 40-80 mg a day for 1-1,5 months. In some cases the daily dose can be increased to 200-300 mg;
• Cerebrovascular diseases: on 20-50 mg 2-3 times a day (but no more than 150 mg a day) a 1-2-month course. 5-6 months later appoint a repeated course;
• Alcoholism: in the period of abstinence – on 100-150 mg a day a 6-7-day course, at permanent disturbances out of abstinence – on 40-60 mg a day for 4-5 weeks.

Side effects

• Allergic reactions: an itch on skin, rash;
• From the central nervous system: вертиго, irritability, uneasiness, excitement, headache;
• Others: nausea.

Special instructions

Medicinal interaction

In case of simultaneous use Pikamilon reduces duration of action of barbiturates, strengthens action of narcotic analgetics.

Terms and storage conditions

To store at a temperature up to 25 ºC in the place protected from light and moisture unavailable to children.

Period of validity – 3 years.
