Serokvel

Serokvel – the antipsychotic drug used for treatment of chronic and acute psychoses.

Pharmacological action

Serokvel treats antipsychotic medicines – neuroleptics.

Active component of drug in comparison with dopamine D1-and D2 receptors in a brain shows higher affinity to serotoninovy 5HT2-receptors.

In standard tests Serokvel showed antipsychotic activity, and in the conducted clinical trials showed efficiency at treatment of negative and positive symptoms of schizophrenia.

Release form

Tablets Serokvel contain 25 mg (with an engraving of "SEROQUEL 25"), 100 mg (with an engraving of "SEROQUEL 100") and 200 mg (with an engraving of "SEROQUEL 200") active ingredient – a kvetiapin of a fumarat.

Excipients – calcium hydrophosphate, magnesium stearate, cellulose microcrystallic, povidone, lactoses monohydrate and carboxymethylstarch of sodium.

On 10 pieces in the blister.

Serokvel's analogs

Drugs Viktoel, Kventiaks, Gedonin, Lakvel, Ketiap, Kutipin, Kvetiapin and Nantarid belong to Serokvel's analogs on active ingredient.

On the action mechanism the closest analogs of Serokvel are medicines Azaleptinum, Zalasta, Zipreks, Olanzapin, Azaleprol, Safris, Normiton, Olaneks, Klozasten, Zalasta Ku-tab and Parnasan.

Indications to Serokvel's use

According to the instruction Serokvel appoint for treatment:

• Depressive episodes from average to the expressed severity in structure of bipolar disorder (treatment, as a rule, long);
• Maniacal episodes in structure of bipolar disorder;
• Chronic and acute psychoses, including schizophrenia.

Contraindications

Serokvel it is contraindicated to apply at hypersensitivity to a kvetiapin or excipients of drug, and also along with:

• Antifungal drugs of group of azoles;
• Klaritromitsin;
• Protease inhibitors;
• Erythromycin;
• Nefazodon.

With care appoint Serokvel according to the instruction:

• At cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and also other states which dispose to arterial hypotension;
• At convulsive attacks in the anamnesis;
• At advanced age;
• At a liver failure.

Serokvel route of administration

Serokvel according to the instruction accept twice a day.

For treatment of chronic and acute psychoses, including schizophrenia, in the first day accept 50 mg, in the next three days increase a dose to 100 mg, 200 mg and 300 mg respectively. Further the daily dose of Serokvel varies from 150 mg to 750 mg (as much as possible).

As monotherapy or as adjuvant therapy to stabilization of mood at treatment of maniacal episodes in structure of bipolar disorder Serokvel is applied during the first four days on 100 mg, 200 mg, 300 mg and 400 mg respectively. As a rule, the effective dose makes 400-800 mg a day.

Serokvel according to the instruction at treatment of depressive episodes in structure of bipolar disorder appoint in a dosage once a day – 300 mg, as much as possible – 600 mg.

Serokvel's cancellation and analogs of drug is recommended to be carried out with care to avoid developing of sleeplessness, vomiting and nausea, and also an aggravation of psychotic symptoms and emergence of such involuntary motive frustration as an akathisia, dyskinesia and dystonia.

To people at advanced age, and also at a renal and liver failure it is recommended to begin treatment by Serokvel with 25 mg a day and to gradually increase a dose to effective.

Treat the main symptoms of overdose by Serokvel:

• Drowsiness;
• Lowering of arterial pressure;
• Tachycardia.

It is necessary to be careful at Serokvel's use along with:

• Antifungal means of group of azoles;
• Makrolidny antibiotics;
• Carbamazepine;
• Phenytoinum;
• The medicines oppressing the central nervous system;
• The drugs containing ethanol.

It is allowed to apply Serokvel at pregnancy only according to indications and under medical control. Feeding by a breast during Serokvel's reception is recommended to be interrupted.

Side effects of Serokvel

Most often Serokvel according to reviews causes heartbeat, increase in arterial pressure, pharyngitis, a dysarthtia, anorexia, cough and the increased sweating.

Besides, according to responses Serokvel can lead to the disturbances from the central nervous system which are shown most often as drowsiness, consciousness disturbance, dizziness, muscular rigidity.

Prolonged use of Serokvel increases risk of development of late dyskinesia that can demand reduction of a dosage or full drug withdrawal.
