Stokrin

Hundred-crinins – the synthetic antiviral medicine applied in complex treatment of a human immunodeficiency virus.

Pharmacological action

Active agent of drug Stokrin – эфавиренз, slows down a HIV enzyme catalyzing – the return transcriptase necessary for a virus for implementation of the DNA in a human cell.

Form of release of Stokrin

Hundred-crinins are produced in a dosage form:

• The capsules containing 200 mg of an efavirenz in everyone. On 90 pieces in packaging;
• The film coated tablets containing 600 mg of an efavirenz in everyone. On 30, 60, 90 pieces in packaging.

Stokrin's analogs on the mechanism of action are drugs Viramun, Intelens, Nevirapin, Edyurant.

Indications to Stokrin's use

Hundred-crinins according to the instruction are appointed to adults, children and teenagers together with other drugs at treatment of a human immunodeficiency virus (VICh-1).

Contraindications

According to the instruction Stokrin it is contraindicated to appoint:

• At hypersensitivity to any of drug components;
• At heavy degree of a liver failure;
• To the children having body weight less than forty kilograms.

Besides, Stokrin it is contraindicated to apply at the same time:

• With antiallergic means – terfenadiny, astemizoly;
• With the drug stimulating motility of digestive tract – tsizapridy;
• With somnolent medicines – midazolam, triazolamy;
• With anti-fungal drug – vorikonazoly (in the recommended doses);
• With the drugs containing ergot alkaloids.

At joint reception of Stokrin with above-mentioned means can arise such serious (and in certain cases – life-threatening) the phenomena as respiratory depression, long sedation and cardiac arrhythmia. Similar symptoms amplify at a concomitant use of Stokrin and alcohol.

At the carried-out therapy it is necessary to observe precautionary measures at a concomitant use of Stokrin with means which part the St. John's Wort which is made a hole as the last reduces concentration of an efavirenz in blood and, respectively, its influence is.

Patients who have psychiatric frustration in the anamnesis or consist in group of the increased risk in connection with development of the adverse phenomena from mentality, have to take Stokrin with caution.

Hundred-crinins it is not recommended when feeding by a breast and pregnancies (except the exceptional cases determined individually by the doctor).

Route of administration of Stokrin

According to the instruction Stokrin it is desirable to accept next the heart before going to bed.

The dosage and duration of use of Stokrin usually is established by the immunologist having experience of use of this medicine.

Hundred-crinins are accepted only as a part of a combination therapy with other anti-retrovirus drugs, namely with the nukleozidny inhibitors of the return transcriptase (NIRT) and/or inhibitors of protease.

The recommended adult daily dose of Stokrin – 600 mg in one step.

For improvement of portability of drug and reduction of expressiveness of side effects (especially from a nervous system) for the first 2-3 weeks of treatment Stokrin only before going to bed is recommended to accept. If symptoms do not decrease, the mode of administration of drug should be kept for the entire period of treatment.

The teenagers and children having body weight from 40 kg accept Stokrin according to the adult scheme. In cases of the complicated swallowing of drug at children of a tablet it is possible to replace with capsules (200 mg) with preservation of a daily dosage.

Safety of use of drug Stokrin at children under 3 years or having body weight less than 13 kg adequately is not studied. To children with the body weight from 13 to 40 kg drug Stokrin appoint 200 mg in a daily dosage.

Side effects

At Stokrin's use according to the instruction the following side effects are observed:

• Skin rash and itch. Development of fever, and also a severe form of rash which is followed by blisters and a strong peeling (desquamation), arising both on integuments is in rare instances possible, and on mucous membranes (in these cases drug is cancelled);
• Dizziness, feeling of "emptiness in head", uncertainty, balance loss;
• Problems with a dream, the increased drowsiness or complexity of backfilling, brightness and singularity of dreams;
• Changes of mood, orientation loss, euphoria, irritability, nervous tension, depression;
• Disturbance of concentration of attention, sometimes – short-term loss of memory;
• Serious psychiatric symptoms: heavy depression, agressive behavior, nonsense, suicide attempts, psychosis, paranoia;
• Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pains, diarrhea, sometimes – acute pancreatitis.

Stokrin's use and alcohol

The concomitant use of Stokrin and alcohol, and also narcotic drugs strengthens collateral impact on mentality and a nervous system.

Storage conditions

Drug is stored at a temperature not above 30 °C, in the place unavailable to children. A period of validity of Stokrin – 36 months.
