Aluminum sulfate
Aluminum sulfate – chemical compound with a formula Al2(SO4) 3.
We will dissolve aluminum sulfate in water and, it is generally used as flocculant for purification of drinking and technical water with stations of sewage treatment, and also in production of paper.
Aluminum sulfate is sometimes mentioned as sulphuric acid, alum alyumoammiachny or E 523 nutritional supplement. Aluminum sulfate is white or almost white a crystal form or in the form of powder inodorous connection. It we will dissolve in water, not летуч and it is highly inflammable. Aluminum sulfate has extremely acid taste.
Aluminum sulfate use
Solution of aluminum sulfate is used for water purification and as dye in textiles processing. In the course of water purification solution of aluminum sulfate leads to coagulating, undesirable impurity and the contaminated particles accumulate on a bottom of a vessel and are easily filtered.
At dissolution in a large amount of neutral or slightly alkaline water, solution of aluminum sulfate forms a jellylike deposit of Al (OH) 3 aluminum hydroxide which is used at the press and coloring of fabrics as is an insoluble pigment.
Aluminum sulfate is sometimes used for decrease in pH of the soil of a garden that in turn leads at cultivation of some species of flowers (Hydrangea) to their repeated blossoming.
Aluminum sulfate is active ingredient of some antiperspirants.
In construction it is used as the hydroinsulator and the accelerator in production of concrete.
Aluminum sulfate can be used in fight against mollusks, insects and slugs.
It is also used in production of fire extinguishers, additives for the soil and fertilizers, soap, fats, medicines and cosmetics.
In medicine aluminum sulfate is a part of the drugs relieving the pain and discomfort caused by stings of insects. It helps to destroy the toxic chemicals which are contained in stings and helps to reduce their impact on skin. These drugs is issued in the form of sprays which are applied directly on affected areas of skin and more effectively help if are used at once after a sting.
Harm of aluminum sulfate
Aluminum sulfate is harmful at a proglatyvaniye or inhalation. Steam inhalation of aluminum sulfate causes cough and, perhaps, an asthma.
