Tegretolum

Indications to use of Tegretolum

According to the instruction Tegretolum is applied in the following cases:

• Simple and difficult epileptic seizures (without loss or with a loss of consciousness);
• Generalized toniko-clonic spasms;
• Various forms of the mixed convulsive attacks;
• Not diabetes mellitus of the central genesis;
• Acute maniacal psychoses;
• Syndrome of alcoholic abstinence;
• Epileptiform neuralgia (idiopathic or at multiple sclerosis);

The indication to use of Tegretolum is also treatment of bipolar affective disorders as a maintenance therapy. Regular administration of drug allows to prevent development of an aggravation or to weaken its clinical manifestations.

Contraindications

Use of Tegretolum according to the instruction is contraindicated in the following cases:

• The age of the child is younger than 1 year;
• AV disturbances – conductivity;
• Oppression of a marrowy hemopoiesis or intermittent porphyria in the anamnesis;
• Hypersensitivity to any of the components which are a part of Tegretolum.

• To prostate adenoma;

Selection of a dose at epilepsy is carried out individually. At adult patients treatment usually begins with purpose of 100 - 200 mg of Tegretolum one – two times a day. Then gradually increase a dose. The maximum dose no more than 10 tablets in days.

To children 4 years drug are younger appoint at the rate from 20 to 60 mg to kg of body weight of the child and raise each 48 hours on 20 – 60 mg to achievement of an optimum dose. To children 4 years originally are more senior ½ tablets of Tegretolum a day are appointed. Weekly the dose increases by 100 mg.

At neuralgia of glossopalatine or trigeminal nerves about two tablets in days are originally appointed. Then every other day the dose is raised twice. After pains completely disappear, gradually reduce Tegretolum dosage.
