Actinomycetes

Actinomycetes (Actinomycetales; Greek aktinos, aktis – a beam + Greek myketos, mykes – a mushroom; synonym: fungi radiant) – an order of microorganisms of the class Schizomycetes which combines big group of the branching threadlike gram-positive microorganisms which are intermediate between fungi and bacteria. Some of species of actinomycetes cause an actinomycosis of the person and animals, other types produce antibiotics.
