Types of an arachnoiditis:

  • Basal (basalis) – is localized on the basal surface of a brain; process is shown by damage of cranial nerves, visual and endocrine and exchange disturbances;
  • Diffusion (diffusa) – widely extends on a surface back or a brain;
  • Cystous (cystica) – chronic process; it is characterized by formation of cysts of a cover; reminds a tumor back or a brain;
  • Konveksitalny (convexitalis; lat. convexitas – camber) – an arachnoiditis of a convex surface of hemicerebrums; it is shown by paresis of extremities, epileptic seizures, headaches, sensitivity disturbances;
  • Mostomozzhechkovy corner (anguli pontocerebellaris) – a limited arachnoiditis; it is characterized by damages of cranial nerves in a mostomozzhechkovy corner;
  • Limited (circumscripta) – develops only on limited sites of covers back or a brain;
  • Optokhiazmalny (opticochiasmalis; annate. nervus opticus – an optic nerve + chiasma opticum – visual decussation; synonym: the arachnoiditis optiko-hiazmalny) – is localized in an optic nerve; it is shown as reduction of sharpness and narrowing of fields of vision, can lead to a blindness;
  • Productive chronic (productiva chronica) – chronic process; it is characterized by fibrosis and a thickening of a cover with formation of cysts and commissures;
  • Adhesive (adhaesiva; synonym: a meningopatiya adhesive delimited) – chronic process; it is characterized by formation of commissures between brain covers;
  • Spinal (spinalis) – an arachnoiditis of a spinal cord; it is shown by conduction and radicular symptoms, disturbance of circulation of cerebrospinal liquid;
  • Traumatic (traumatica) – chronic productive process, develops after a serous pia-arachnitis;
  • Cerebral (cerebralis) – a brain arachnoiditis; it is shown by disturbances of circulation of cerebrospinal liquid and focal symptoms of damage of a brain.
