Aspartate aminotransferase

Aspartate aminotransferase – enzyme of a class of transferases (KF 2.6.1.1 – classification number (code) of enzyme on the international hierarchical classification) which catalyzes a reversible test of transfer of an amino group from L-aspartic acid on 2-oxoglutaric acid with formation of L-glutaminic and oxalacetic acids. Aspartate aminotransferase is used in clinical medicine for diagnosis of a myocardial infarction.
