Bradycardia

Bradycardia (bradycardia; Greek bradys – slow + Greek kardia – heart) – the reduced heart rate.

Types of bradycardia:

  • Relative – at which the heart rate which is a little raised or normal for usual conditions does not reach the value characteristic of these certain conditions (for example, at fever); it is noted at almost healthy people experiencing intensive exercise stresses throughout the long period and also at some diseases (meningitis, a typhoid);
  • Sinus (sinualis; synonym: bradycardia sinus) – at which a sinus and atrial node is a rhythm source; it is noted at many forms of noncardiac and cardial pathology, is more rare – at almost healthy people;
  • Athletes (synonym: bradycardia of high fitness) – forming as the mechanism of adaptation to long and/or sharp physical tension at almost healthy people a sinus bradycardia; it is noted at rest and at the physical tension which is insignificant for this person;
  • Nodal (nodalis) – appearing as a form of an atrio-ventricular rhythm of heart moderate bradycardia (as a rule, exceeding 50 reductions 1 minute).
