Thrombin

Thrombin – the haemo static 
medicine intended for topical administration.
Release form
Drug is produced in ampoules on 10 ml or glass bottles containing not less than 125 units of active agent.
Pharmacological effect of Thrombin
According to the instruction Thrombin is a natural component of coagulant system of blood which in an organism is formed of a prothrombin at its enzymatic activation by thromboplastin.
In medical practice drug is received from a blood plasma of donors.
Indications to Thrombin use
According to the instruction Thrombin is applied only locally to a bleeding stop from parenchymatous bodies (internals – kidneys, a liver, etc.) and from small capillaries (the smallest vessels).
Use drug at kidney, liver operations, craniocereberal operations. Thrombin is effective for a stop of bleedings from a bone cavity, gums, in particular at Vergolf's disease (multiple hypodermic hemorrhages or in mucous membranes at the lowered maintenance of thrombocytes in blood), at hypoplastic and aplastic anemia (low level in blood of erythrocytes because of oppression of the hemopoietic function of marrow).
Do not use drug at bleedings from large vessels.
Thrombin is applied as a part of the combined treatment to a local hemostasis.
Route of administration of Thrombin and mode of dosing
Before use the ampoule 
with drug is opened with observance of rules of sterility and by means of the sterile syringe enter into it isotonic NaCl solution of room temperature.
Impregnate with the received solution an absorbable sterile gelatin sponge either a collagenic absorbable gelatin sponge, or a sterile gauze tampon which should be imposed on the bleeding wound.
The gauze tampon should be removed right after a bleeding stop in case of closing of a wound, or when bandaging when performing treatment in the open way. The absorbable gelatin sponge can be not deleted, so it resolves afterwards.
In order to avoid emergence of blood clots it is necessary to delete a tampon from a wound very accurately.
Intramuscular and intravenous administration of drug is not allowed. Introduction to blood vessels can provoke widespread thrombosis with a lethal outcome.
Contraindications
According to the instruction Thrombin is contraindicated at hypersensitivity to drug components.
Storage conditions
Drug is stored in the dry dark place. Storage temperature – from 2 to 10 degrees of heat.
