Diprospan

Diprospan is glucocorticoid (gomona of bark of adrenal glands) the drug intended for treatment of inflammatory diseases.

Pharmacological action

Diprospan has antiinflammatory, immunosuppressive (immunity oppression), antiallergic, antishock and desensibilizing (decrease in sensitivity of an organism) properties.

Active component – betamethasone – is presented to Diprospane in two forms: dinatrium betamethasone the phosphate providing speed of approach of therapeutic effect, and betamethasone Dipropionas serving for extension of effect of drug.

Broad use of Diprospan at various diseases is caused by his ability to oppress synthesis of substances which cause inflammatory reaction, blocking development of inflammatory process at the cellular level.

Diprospan has poorly expressed ability to detain in an organism sodium and to strengthen allocation of ions of hydrogen, potassium and ammonium, however at use of drug in the recommended doses these properties have no clinical value.

Diprospan, the price of it did not exert impact, is one of the most popular glucocorticoid drugs.

Indications to Diprospan's use

The instruction recommends to apply Diprospan at:

• diseases of soft tissues and musculoskeletal system: a bursitis (an inflammation of a circumarticular bag), an osteoarthrosis (defeat of cartilaginous tissue of a surface of joints), a pseudorheumatism (an inflammation of connecting fabric and damage of joints), an epicondylitis (degenerative process in the place of an attachment of muscles to a humeral bone), radiculitis (defeat of nerve fibrils which depart from a spinal cord), a lumbago (making jokes a back pain), a wryneck, a fasciitis (heel pain at loading), diseases of feet;
• allergic diseases: hay fever, bronchial asthma, rhinitis, an allergic bronchitis, a medicinal allergy, a serum disease (an allergy to administration of drugs with a large amount of protein), an allergy to stings of insects;
• dermatological diseases: neurodermatitises (emergence on skin of pruritic sites of reddening), monetovidny eczema (an inflammatory enanthesis), contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, a small tortoiseshell, the expressed photodermatitis, red flat deprive, psoriasis, an ordinary pemphigus, cystous eels, herpetic dermatitis;

Application instruction of Diprospan

Diprospan is issued in the form of solution or suspension for injections.

Diprospan pricks can be entered intramuscular, intradermal, perartikulyarny (around a joint) or an intra joint way. Diprospan pricks cannot be entered intravenously.

According to the instruction to Diprospan, intramusculary it is necessary to apply drug each 2-4 weeks on 1-2 ml. Diprospan pricks are vnutrisustavno and perartikulyarno entered in the following doses: in a hip joint – 1-2 ml, humeral, talocrural, knee – 1 ml, carpal, elbow – 0,5-1 ml, interfalangovy, metakarpofalangovy, sternal and clavicular – 0,25-5 ml.

At Diprospan's use directly in the defeat center by intradermal introduction it is not necessary to exceed the week dose equal to 1 ml. Depending on the nature of a disease local infiltration assumes introduction from 0,25 to 2 ml of Diprospan.

As a rule, Diprospan pricks are painless, however administration of drug together with anesthetic for the purpose of elimination of painful feelings in certain cases is necessary.

Side effects

Single use of Diprospan or short course of treatment of essential negative reactions do not cause.

Possible side effects of drug and Diprospan's price are commensurable with its efficiency.

According to the instruction, Diprospan at prolonged use can provoke:

• hypernatremia, the increased removal of potassium and calcium from an organism, liquid delay in fabrics, increase in body weight;
• increase in arterial pressure, chronic heart failure;
• steroid myopathy (disbolism in muscular tissue), muscular weakness, osteoporosis (thinning of a bone tissue), ruptures of sinews, fractures of tubular bones, an aseptic necrosis of a head humeral and a femur;
• hiccups, meteorism, pancreatitis, erosive cankers of a digestive tract;
• the increased perspiration, steroid eels, dermatitis, an atrophy and thinning of skin, disturbance of healing of wounds;
• increase in intracranial pressure, spasm, headache, dizziness, changes of mood, acrimony, depression, sleeplessness;
• secondary adrenal insufficiency, disturbance of a menstrual cycle, steroid diabetes mellitus, growth inhibition and sexual development at children;
• glaucoma, increase in intraocular pressure, cataract;
• arterial hypotension, Quincke's disease, shock, anaphylactic reactions;
• aseptic abscesses, hypodermic and skin atrophy.

Contraindications

At treatment of many diseases Diprospan, the price at the same time does not matter, is rather effective, however doctors do not appoint this drug at system mycoses and hypersensitivity to betamethasone and other glucocorticoid means.

Diprospan's use is forbidden in intervertebral space in the infected surfaces, and intra joint introduction is contraindicated at infectious arthritis and an unstable joint.

With care the instruction recommends to apply Diprospan at cirrhosis, a peptic ulcer, a recent intestinal anastomosis (connection of the crossed sites) a renal failure, osteoporosis, hypertensia, chicken pox, diabetes, thrombophlebitis.

As reliable data about Diprospan's safety for mother and a fruit are absent, at pregnancy the doctor has to make the decision on expediency of use of drug, having compared all risks and advantage.

Diprospan's use in the period of a lactation assumes the breastfeeding termination.

At Diprospan's storage at a temperature which is not going beyond ^20-250C drug will be suitable for use within 2 years.
