Haemoferum
Application instruction:
Haemoferum – antianemic medicine.
Form of release and structure
Haemoferum is released in the form of drops for intake: flavovirent, transparent, with a characteristic smell (on 10 or 30 ml in dark glass bottles droppers, on 1 bottle in a cardboard pack).
Is a part of 1 ml of drops:
- Active agent: ferric chloride – 157 mg (including iron (II) – 44 mg);
- Auxiliary components: citric acid, sodium benzoate, sodium hydroxide, a dextrose, sorbitol, fragrance, the purified water.
Indications to use
- Clinically expressed iron deficiency anemia (treatment);
- Latent deficit of iron (treatment);
- Lack of iron at women of childbearing age, at pregnancy and during breastfeeding, and also at children, teenagers and adults, including patients of advanced age and at observance of a vegetarian diet (prevention).
Contraindications
- Excess content of iron in an organism (including a hemosiderosis);
- The anemias caused by iron utilization disturbances (lead, sideroakhrestichesky anemia);
- The anemias which are not connected with a lack of iron (megaloblastny, hemolitic anemia);
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Route of administration and dosage
Haemoferum is accepted inside, with juice or water, between meals.
The mode of dosing is defined by the doctor individually. As a rule, appoint:
- Premature children: daily dose –1-2 drops (1,5-3 mg/kg);
- Children till 1 year: daily dose of-10-20 drops (15-30 mg);
- Children of 1-12 years: a single dose – 30 drops (45 mg), frequency rate of reception – 1-2 times a day;
- Children of 12 years: a single dose – 30 drops (45 mg), frequency rate of reception – 2 times a day;
- Adults: a single dose – 55 drops (88 mg), frequency rate of reception – 1-2 times a day.
The maximum daily dose at treatment of anemia makes: children – 3 mg/kg, adult – 180-200 mg.
With the preventive purpose the dose of Haemoferum should be lowered by 2-3 times.
Course duration – is not less than 2 months. Hemoglobin level at clinically significant deficit of iron is normalized only 2-3 months later after the beginning of therapy. After normalization of indicators for recovery of reserves of iron in an organism drug should be accepted for several months in preventive doses.
Course duration at premature children varies from 3 to 5 months.
The daily dose can be accepted in one or several receptions.
157 mg of ferric chloride (44 mg of elementary iron) are a part of 1 ml (30 drops) of Haemoferum, 1 drop contains about 1,5 mg of elementary iron.
Side effects
During use of Haemoferum the disturbances from the alimentary system which are shown in the form of diarrhea, lack of appetite, abdominal pains, nausea, a meteorism, locks can be observed.
Special instructions
Patients with disturbances of process of digestion and absorption in digestive tract are not recommended to apply Haemoferum.
Because of the increased content of iron in intestines during reception of Haemoferum the chair can be painted in more dark color. When coloring (darkening) of teeth it is recommended to accept drug through a straw or at once after its use to rinse a mouth.
Glucose is a part of Haemoferum that patients need to consider at its appointment with a diabetes mellitus.
During therapy it is recommended to control concentration of iron and hemoglobin in blood once a month. After normalization of sizes of hematologic indicators Haemoferum needs to be applied on an extent of 1,5-2 months.
Medicinal interaction
At simultaneous use of Haemoferum with some medicines there can be following effects:
- Antacids: decrease in absorption of iron;
- Tetracyclines: decrease in absorption of antibiotics and iron.
Terms and storage conditions
To store in protected from light, the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature up to 25 °C.
