Gerpevir

Gerpevir – antiviral means with an immunopromoting effect.

Form of release and structure

Dosage forms:

• Tablets (10 pieces in a blister strip packaging, on 1 packaging – 0,4 g or on 2 packagings – 0,2 g in a cardboard pack);
• Cream for external use of 5% (on 5 or 10 g in a tuba, 1 tuba in a cardboard pack).

The operating component – an acyclovir:

• 1 tablet – 0,2 g or 0,4 g;
• 1 g of cream – 0,05 g.

Auxiliary components of tablets: polyvinylpirrolidone low-molecular medical, potato starch, calcium stearate.

Indications to use

Use of drug in the form of tablets is shown at the following diseases / states:

• Infections of mucous membranes and the skin caused by the type Herpes simplex 1 and 2 virus including genital herpes primary or recurrent;
• Shingles at patients with a normality of immune system;
• Chicken pox;
• Prevention of the Herpes simplex 1 and 2 virus of type at patients with disturbances of immune system.

Cream is used for treatment of infections of mucous membranes and skin, including herpes of lips which are caused by the type Herpes simplex 1 and 2 virus.

Contraindications

Both dosage forms of drug cannot be taken at hypersensitivity to Gerpevir's components.

In addition, contraindications to use of tablets:

• Heavy renal failures;
• Organism dehydration;
• Advanced age.

Use of an acyclovir during pregnancy is made only according to vital indications if the expected advantage for mother prevails over potential risk for a fruit.

In case of need uses of tablets in the period of a lactation, feeding by a breast for the period of treatment it is necessary to stop.

Route of administration and dosage

Pill is taken inside, it is possible along with food, it is necessary to wash down them with a large amount of liquid. Use of drug is recommended to be begun in case of the first symptoms of a disease.

Dosing at treatment of children:

• Primary infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus (1 and 2 types): up to 2 years – on 0,1 g (1/2 tablets on 0,2 g), 2 years – on 0,2 g of 5 times a day every 4 hour (except a night dream), a course of treatment of 5-7 days are more senior;
• The infections caused by a virus of chicken pox and shingles: up to 2 years – on 0,2 g, from 2 to 6 years – on 0,4 g or at the rate of 20 mg on 1 kg of weight of the child (but no more than on 0,8 g), 6 years – on 0,8 g are more senior. A pill is taken by 4 times a day, a course of treatment not less than 5 days.

Dosing for adult patients:

• Treatment of primary infections caused by the type Herpes simplex 1 and 2 virus: on 0,2 g of 5 times a day within 5 days;
• Treatment of the infections caused by Varicella zoster (chicken pox, shingles): on 0,8 g of 5 times a day (every 4 hour, except a night dream), a therapy course not less than 7 days;
• Prevention of the infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus of types 1 and 2: at normal immunity – on 0,2 g 4 times a day every 6 hours or on 0,4 g 2 times a day in 12 hours (reduction of a daily dose to 0,6 g in 2-3 receptions is allowed). For patients with a considerable immunodeficiency – on 0,4 g 4 times a day, the period of a preventive course are established by the doctor;
• Treatment of patients with an immunodeficiency, including at disturbance of absorption in intestines, after transplantation of marrow or bodies: on 0,4 g of 5 times a day. The period of reception makes from 5 to 10 days.

For patients of advanced age and at disturbance of secretory function of kidneys it is recommended to reduce a dose and treatment to carry out under obligatory control of the doctor.

Gerpevir in the form of cream is applied locally: it is applied with a thin layer on the infected sites of skin roundabouts, since boundary healthy region to the center of defeat. It is necessary to carry out the procedure every 4 hour, but no more than 5 times a day within 5-10 days.

Side effects

Use of tablets Gerpevir can become the reason of the following side effects:

• From the alimentary system: nausea, lack of appetite, vomiting, intestinal colic, diarrhea;
• From the central nervous system: dizziness, fatigue, headache;
• From system of a hemopoiesis: deterioration in indicators of blood;
• Allergic reactions: itch, skin rash, hypostases, fever;
• Change of laboratory indicators: increase in level of urea, hepatic transaminases, bilirubin, creatinine;
• Other: very seldom – an alopecia.

Use of cream can cause reddening, a peeling, an itch, feeling of a pricking or burning in the place of application, sometimes – allergic dermatitis.

Special instructions

If reception of tablets within a week at women with herpes of generative organs does not give therapeutic effect, it is necessary to consult with the doctor (at patients with herpes of generative organs the risk of development of cancer of neck of uterus is increased).

Treatment by tablets needs to be accompanied with control of laboratory indications of function of kidneys – urea nitrogen level in blood and creatinine in a blood plasma.

Therapy of chicken pox is more effective if it is begun within the first days after emergence of rash.

During treatment of genital herpes it is necessary to avoid the unprotected sexual contacts, and when using condoms, it is necessary to consider that topical administration of cream reduces their durability and reliability.

Not to allow hit of cream on mucous membranes of eyes and an oral cavity.

Medicinal interaction

Gerpevir's combination with probenetsidy promotes delay of removal of an acyclovir.

Use of drug along with nephrotoxic means strengthens their action, especially at functional disturbances of kidneys.

Terms and storage conditions

To protect from children. To store in the protected from light, dry place at a temperature up to 25 °C. A period of validity of tablets – 3 years, cream – 2 years. Storage of cream in the refrigerator is forbidden.
