Description

Guarana – an evergreen creeping bush from family of the Soapberry family, with the big, collected in a bunch leaves. History

The Latin name "Paulínia cupána Kunth" received a plant in honor of K. Paulie, the German researcher who opened a plant in the 18th century. The Portuguese name guaraná comes from the word "warana", and the fruit as eyes of people" is translated from language of the Amazonian Indians мауэ as ". Brazilians with an ulterior motive so nicknamed a plant: in a section ripe fruits of a guarana really remind an eyeglobe. There is even a legend narrating about the evil deity which killed the boy from the tribe of Indians мауэ. And more generous god pulled out at the child of an eye, left it put in the wood, and right – in the village where the tribe lived. That's it the guarana also grew from these seeds, according to an ancient legend.

Thanks to the miracle properties Indians used a guarana for preparation of tonic, and also as medicine. They separated seeds of fruits from pulp, crushed them and mixed with water.
