Elkar

Elkar (the international name – Levokarnitin) is the vitamin which is participating in a metabolism, normalizing secretion of a stomach and having lipolytic effect. Elkar was widely used in sports medicine and pediatrics.

Structure and form of release of Elkar

The main active ingredient – a left carnitine of 300 mg.

Auxiliary components: citric acid, methylparahydroxybenzoate, пропилпарагидроксибензоат, the purified water.

Elkar is issued in the form of solution for intake, chewable tablets and solution for injections of intravenous administration.

Pharmacological properties

Elkar is the drug for normalization of metabolic processes activating a lipometabolism and stimulating regenerative processes.

Medicine renders the anti-hypoxemic, metabolic, stimulating and anabolic action. The carnitine slows down disintegration of proteins, increases protective functions of an organism and promotes strengthening of muscular system.

Elkar has good responses as effective fortifying remedy which activates fermental function and recovers working capacity after loadings of various type.

As a result of action of the main components of Elkar the glycogen consumption is cut, the damaged nervous tissue is recovered and functioning of a thyroid gland is normalized.

Drug is quickly soaked up and reaches the maximum concentration in blood within 3 hours. Therapeutic action lasts 10 hours. It is brought out of an organism by kidneys in the form of esters.

Application instruction of Elkar

According to the instruction Elkar in the form of solution for intake appoint for 0,75 - 0,8 2-3 times a day for half an hour to food. Solution can be diluted with a small amount of water. At anorexia at a heavy stage of a current Elkar it is necessary to accept 1-1,5 g 2 times a day. The course of treatment lasts 30 - 60 days.

As a part of complex therapy for treatment of gastritis and pancreatitis Elkar appoint on the one fourth spoons 2-3 times a day, and for treatment of skin diseases – on a half of a spoon 2 times a day.

According to the instruction Elkar for completion of a carnitine appoint 50-100 mg 2 times a day. The course of treatment makes 2-4 months.

Contraindications

Contraindications to Elkar's appointment are hypersensitivity and intolerance of components of drug, the increased contents in a carnitine organism, a serious illness of the alimentary system.

Side effects of Elkar

Elkar can cause a gastralgia, dyspepsia, a meteorism, diarrhea, vomiting, a myasthenia, dizziness.

At a long course of treatment allergic reactions – urticaria, skin rash, a Quincke's disease, dermatitis can appear.
