Valerian tincture

Form of release and structure

Dosage form – tincture: liquid of red-brown color with transparent structure, a characteristic fragrant smell and sweetish and bitter taste (on 25, 30 or 50 ml in glass bottles of dark color or on 15 ml in glass bottles of dark color with the drop device, in a cardboard pack 1 bottle).

The operating component – rhizomes with valerian roots (crushed), in 100 ml of tincture – 20 g.

Excipient: ethanol of 70%.

Indications to use

  • Dysfunction of cardiovascular system;
  • The increased nervous irritability;
  • Digestive tract spasms;
  • Sleeplessness.

Contraindications

  • Period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • Age till 1 year;
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

With caution patients should take the Valerian tincture with a chronic coloenteritis.

Route of administration and dosage

Tincture is accepted inside, diluting in a small amount of water, to food.

The recommended dosing:

  • Adult: till 20-30 drops 3-4 times a day;
  • To children: the quantity of drops of a single dose corresponds to age of the child, for example, 5 years – 5 drops.

Side effects

  • Perhaps: weakness, slackness (especially at reception of high doses);
  • In some cases: allergic reactions;
  • Others: locks against the background of prolonged use.

Special instructions

As prolonged use of high doses of drug can lead to decrease in psychomotor reactions, it is necessary to be careful at control of mechanisms and vehicles.

Medicinal interaction

At simultaneous use with the medicines oppressing a nervous system (sleeping pill), tincture strengthens their action.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the unavailable to children, protected from light place at a temperature up to 18 °C.

Period of validity – 2 years.
