Norcolutum

Norcolutum – drug with progestagenny action.

Form of release and structure

Norcolutum is released in the form of tablets: almost white or white color, round, flat, with a facet; on one party a text of "NORCOLUT", on another – "+" (on 10 pieces in blister strip packagings, on 2 packagings in a cardboard pack).

Is a part of 1 tablet:

• Active agent: Norethisteronum – 5 mg;
• Auxiliary components: colloid silicon dioxide, corn starch, potato starch, magnesium stearate, gelatin, talc, monohydrate of lactose.

Indications to use

• Anovulatory metrorrhagia;
• Premenstrual syndrome;
• Pains in a mammary gland (mastodynia);
• The dysmenorrhea proceeding with shortening of a secretory phase;
• Hysteromyoma;
• Endometriosis;
• Endometria hyperplasia;
• Carrying out diagnostic progesteronovy test;
• Need of the termination and prevention of a lactation.

Contraindications

Absolute:

• Jaundice (including anamnestic data);
• Acute diseases of a liver (including new growths of high-quality and malignant character);
• Functional disturbances of a liver and kidneys;
• Bleeding from an urinary and genital tract of not clear etiology;
• Tendency to development of thromboses;
• Acute thrombophlebitis or thromboembolism;
• Hyperbilirubinemia;
• Cholestatic jaundice of pregnant women or skin itch (anamnestic data);
• Herpes;
• Obesity;
• Malignant tumors of female generative organs;
• Breast cancer (including suspicions on it);
• Puberty period;
• Pregnancy (including suspicion on it, except appointment concerning not incubation);
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Relative (purpose of Norcolutum demands care in the presence of the following diseases / states):

• Chronic heart failure;
• Bronchial asthma;
• Migraine;
• Epilepsy;
• Arterial hypertension;
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Renal failure;
• Spasms or other dysfunctions of the central nervous system (including anamnestic data);
• Lipidemia;
• Liver diseases;
• Thrombophlebitis and/or thrombembolia (including anamnestic data).

It is necessary to consider that at use of Norcolutum during the puerperal period milk secretion decreases, and its quality indicators change.

Route of administration and dosage

Norcolutum should be accepted inside.

The mode of dosing is defined by indications:

• Hysteromyoma: on 1-2 tablets a day during the period from the 5th to the 25th day of a menstrual cycle, the average duration of a course – before half a year;
• Mastodynia, premenstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhea: on 1-2 tablets a day during the period from the 16th to the 25th day of a menstrual cycle (perhaps simultaneous use with estrogen);
• Endometriosis: on 1 tablet a day during the period from the 5th to the 25th day of a menstrual cycle, the average duration of a course – half a year (performing longer therapy is on doctor's orders possible);
• Anovulatory metrorrhagia, endometria hyperplasia (in the presence of confirmation by the histologic analysis (no more than in 6 months prior to treatment) the dysfunctional nature of bleeding): on 1-2 tablets a day for 6-12 days, further, after achievement of therapeutic effect (for the prevention of a recurrence) – in the same dose during the period from the 16th to the 25th day of a menstrual cycle, as a rule, in a combination with estrogen;
• Termination of a lactation (daily dose): 1-3 day – 4 tablets, 4-7 day – 3 tablets, 8-10 day – 2 tablets (the general duration of a course – 10 days);
• The prevention of a lactation at abortion during 16-28 weeks (daily dose): 1 day – 3 tablets, 2-3 day – 2 tablets, 4-7 day – 1 tablet (the general duration of a course – 7 days);
• The prevention of a lactation at abortion during 28-36 weeks (daily dose): 1 day – 3 tablets, 2-7 day – 2 tablets (the general duration of a course – 7 days);
• Diagnostic progesteronovy test (optimal variant): on 2 tablets a day for 10 days. At emergence of moderate bloody allocations in 3-7 days after the termination of a course and their duration of 3-4 days reaction is regarded as natural.

Side effects

During use of Norcolutum development of disturbances in the form of a headache, tension of mammary glands, the dispepsichesky phenomena (nausea, vomiting), acyclic bloody allocations from a vagina, paresthesia, increase in body weight, increased fatigue (additional therapy is not required), peripheral hypostases, allergic reactions (skin rash, an itch) is possible.

At a long course the thrombembolia and thrombosis can develop.

Special instructions

Before purpose of Norcolutum it is necessary to carry out preliminary careful oncological (having excluded existence of malignant new growths) and gynecologic inspections and inspection of mammary glands.

At the admission of reception of a single dose of drug the passed pill should be taken as soon as possible. In cases if drug is accepted for protection from undesirable pregnancy, it is necessary to consider probability of decrease in contraceptive action (it is necessary to use additional protective methods).

Medicinal interaction

Simultaneous use of Norcolutum with rifampicin, barbiturates, Phenytoinum, Cimetidinum and other drugs exerting impact on a microsomal oxidation in a liver is not recommended.

It is necessary to be careful at the combined use with peroral anticoagulants, hypoglycemic drugs and glucocorticosteroids.

It is necessary to take into account that metabolism of Norethisteronum is accelerated by inductors of liver enzymes.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature of 15-30 °C.

Period of validity – 5 years.
