Omakor

Omakor – hypolipidemic means.

Form of release and structure

Dosage form – capsules: the size No. 20, gelatinous with soft transparent structure, in capsules – light yellow color oily liquid (on 28 pieces in polyethylene bottles, in a cardboard box 1 bottle).

Active ingredients of Omakor – omegas-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids ethyl ethers, in 1 capsule – 1 g, including:

• Ethyl ether of eykozapentayenovy acid – 0,46 g;
• Ethyl ether of dokozageksayenovy acid – 0,38 g.

Auxiliary components: alpha tocopherol.

Structure of a cover of the capsule: gelatin, глицерол, the water purified.

Indications to use

• Monotherapy of an endogenous gipertriglitseridemiya of the IV type (Fredrikson's classification) – at insufficient efficiency of a hypolipidemic diet (in the form of addition);
• Combination therapy of an endogenous gipertriglitseridemiya of IIb and the III type (Fredrikson's classification) – at insufficient efficiency of statines (GMG-KOA-reduktazy inhibitors) for control over concentration of triglycerides;
• Combination therapy at secondary prevention after a myocardial infarction – at simultaneous use of statines, beta adrenoblockers, antiagregantny drugs, inhibitors of an angiotensin-converting enzyme (APF).

Contraindications

• Exogenous gipertriglitseridemiya (hyper chylomicronemia of the I type);
• Age up to 18 years;
• Period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
• Hypersensitivity to soy and components of drug.

With care Omakor is recommended to patients to appoint aged more senior than 70 years, with abnormal liver functions, hemorrhagic diathesis, severe injuries, at surgical interventions (because of risk of long bleeding), in combination with fibrata, peroral anticoagulants.

At a secondary endogenous gipertriglitseridemiya experience of use of drug is limited, especially at patients with an uncontrollable diabetes mellitus.

Route of administration and dosage

Capsules accept inside during food.

The recommended dosing:

• Gipertriglitseridemiya: an initial dose – 2 g a day, in the absence of clinical effect a daily dose it is possible to increase, but no more than to 4 g;
• Secondary prevention of a myocardial infarction: on 1 g a day.

The doctor determines the period of use and need for carrying out repeated courses individually.

Side effects

• Cardiovascular system: infrequently – a considerable lowering of arterial pressure;
• Alimentary system: often – abdominal pains, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, a lock, diarrhea, an eructation, a meteorism, a gastroesophageal reflux disease, abdominal distention and other gastrointestinal frustration; infrequently – gastrointestinal bleeding, functional disorder of a liver (including increase in activity of alaninaminotranspherase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (nuclear heating plant));
• Immune system: seldom – hypersensitivity reactions;
• Nervous system: infrequently – a dysgeusia (food faddism), dizziness; seldom – a headache;
• Metabolism: infrequently – gout, a hyperglycemia;
• Respiratory system: infrequently – nasal bleeding;
• Dermatological reactions: infrequently – skin rash; very seldom – a small tortoiseshell;
• Others: perhaps – an eructation with smack or a smell of fish (against the background of long reception of Omakor in a dose of 4 g a day).

Special instructions

Against the background of use of a daily dose of 4 g there is a moderate increase in a bleeding time therefore to patients with disturbances from coagulant system of blood, or at the same time accepting the anticoagulants, acetylsalicylic acid, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and other means influencing system of a hemostasis it is necessary to provide constant control of therapy. In case of need to carry out the corresponding dose adjustment of anticoagulant or the drugs influencing system of a hemostasis.

Patients with signs of functional disorder of a liver are recommended to accompany drug use with control of activity of ALT and ACT, especially at purpose of 4 g of drug a day.

During Omakor's use by the patient it is necessary to be careful at control of vehicles and mechanisms because of risk of development of side effects (dizziness).

Medicinal interaction

At a concomitant use of Omakor:

• The drugs influencing system of a hemostasis, anticoagulants for oral administration – increase risk of long bleeding;
• Warfarin – does not cause any hemorrhagic complications, however during a combination therapy or after cancellation of hypolipidemic means it is necessary to control a prothrombin time.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the dry place at a temperature up to 25 °C. To protect from children.

Period of validity – 3 years.
