Oxolinum
Application instruction:
Oxolinum – local antiviral drug.
Form of release and structure
Dosage forms of release of Oxolinum:
- Ointment for topical administration of 0,25%: from light yellow till white color, in storage time emergence of a pink shade is admissible (in aluminum or laminatny tubas on 5, 10 or 30 g, on 1 tuba in a cardboard pack);
- Ointment of nasal 0,25%: from light yellow till white color, in storage time emergence of a pink shade is admissible (in aluminum or laminatny tubas on 10, 15, 25, 30 g, on 1 tuba in a cardboard pack; on 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 g in banks from glass melt, on 20, 30, 40 cans in a cardboard pack);
- Ointment for external use of 3%: from light yellow till white color, in storage time emergence of a pink shade is admissible (in aluminum or polyethylene tubas or in banks on 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 g, on 1 tuba or bank in a cardboard pack).
For topical administration is a part of 100 mg of ointment:
- Active agent: dioxotetrahydroxytetralin (Oxolinum) – 0,25 mg;
- Auxiliary components: liquid paraffin (liquid paraffin), citric acid, vaseline – to 100 mg.
Nasal is a part of 100 mg of ointment:
- Active agent: dioxotetrahydroxytetralin (Oxolinum) – 0,25 mg;
- Auxiliary components: liquid paraffin (liquid paraffin) – 0,5 mg, vaseline – to 100 mg.
Is a part of 100 mg of outside ointment:
- Active agent: dioxotetrahydroxytetralin (Oxolinum) – 3 mg;
- Auxiliary component: vaseline – to 100 mg.
Indications to use
Ointment for topical administration, nasal ointment
- The diseases of eyes, rhinitises having a virus etiology (treatment);
- Flu (prevention).
Ointment for external use
Apply to treatment of warts, flat and ordinary, and sharp-pointed condylomas.
Contraindications
Absolute contraindication is hypersensitivity to ointment components.
Relative (Oxolinum is appointed with care):
- Pregnancy and period of chest feeding;
- Age up to 2 years.
Route of administration and dosage
Nasal ointment, ointment for topical administration
Oxolinum is applied locally.
The mode of dosing is defined by indications (for children and adults):
- Viral rhinitis (treatment): the field of drawing – a mucous membrane of a nose, strip length – 3-5 mm, frequency rate of use – 2-3 times a day, course duration – 3-4 days;
- Viral diseases of eyes: a route of administration – to put for a lower eyelid, strip length – 2-3 mm, frequency rate of use – 3-4 times a day; as a part of the combined treatment with other antiviral medicines – frequency rate of use – once a day for the night;
- Flu (prevention): the field of drawing – a mucous membrane of a nose, strip length – 3-5 mm, frequency rate of use – 2-3 times a day. Drug is recommended to be used at contacts with patients with flu and/or during rise and the maximum development of epidemic outbreak of flu (course duration – 25 days).
Ointment for external use
Oxolinum is applied outwardly, greasing a surface of warts (including sharp-pointed condylomas).
Frequency rate of use – 2-3 times a day, duration of a medical course – from 14 days to 2 months.
After putting ointment for strengthening of effect it is possible to apply occlusive bandages with wax paper.
Side effects
Possible side effects:
- Nasal ointment, ointment for topical administration: burning sensation of eyes or mucous membrane of a nose, rhinorrhea;
- Ointment for external use: dermatitis, burning sensation, coloring of skin in blue color (is easily washed away).
Special instructions
It is not necessary to exceed the dosing mode recommended in the instruction.

Significant medicinal interaction with other drugs / substances was not revealed.
Terms and storage conditions
To store in the place, unavailable to children.
Period of validity:
- Ointment for topical administration – 3 years at a temperature up to 10 °C;
- Nasal ointment, ointment for external use – 2 years at a temperature of 5-15 °C.
