Таблетки, покрытые пленочной оболочкой, Пенестер Penesterum – drug for treatment of adenoma of a prostate.

Form of release and structure

Drug is produced in tablets, film coated: a round form, convex from two parties, light yellow color (on 10 pieces in blisters, on 3 blisters in a cardboard pack; on 15 pieces in blisters, on 2 or 6 blisters in a cardboard pack).

Contains in 1 tablet:

Active ingredient: финастерид – 5 mg;
Inactive components: lactoses monohydrate (77,45 mg), starch corn (40 mg), K30 povidone (3,25 mg), carboxymethylstarch of sodium of type A (2,6 mg), magnesium stearate (1,3 mg), sodium docusate (0,4 mg);
Film cover: gipromelloza 2910/5 (3,15 mg), macrogoal 6000 (0,3 mg), talc (0,3 mg), titanium dioxide (0,2 mg), emulsion of a simetikon of SE4 (0,03 mg), dye ferrous oxide yellow (0,02 mg).

Indications to use

Penesterum – the drug intended for therapy of a benign hyperplasia of a prostate.

Use of a finasterid is recommended if it is necessary:

Reduction of the size of a prostate;
Increase in the maximum speed of outflow of urine;
Removal or reduction of the symptoms caused by a hyperplasia;
Decrease in risk of emergence of an acute ischuria and probability of carrying out surgery.

Contraindications

Absolute:

Children's age;
Obstruction of urinary tract;
Prostate cancer;
Hypersensitivity to any component of drug.

With care use medicine at abnormal liver functions.

Route of administration and dosage

Penesterum should be accepted inside. Meal does not influence efficiency of drug.

To adult patients appoint on 1 tablet of 1 times a day.

Duration of therapy is defined individually, but has to make not less than 6 months. Approximately in 50% of cases clinical symptoms disappeared within 12 months of treatment.

Side effects

From a reproductive system: reduction of volume of an ejaculate, morbidity of chest glands, gynecomastia, decrease in a libido, impotence;
Others: allergic reactions;
Laboratory indicators: insignificant (within normal amounts) increase in concentration of luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormone.

Frequency of undesirable reactions does not exceed 4% and usually decreases in the course of treatment.

Special instructions

Before purpose of Penesterum the patient has to undergo full inspection to exclude existence of other diseases which could lead to development of a benign hyperplasia of a prostate, such as bladder hypotonia, prostatitis of infectious genesis, an urethra stricture, a prostate cancer and some other the changes from an urinary system arising at some diseases of a nervous system.

Finasterid promotes decrease in prostates specific antigens (for 41% and 48% by 6 and 12 month of the beginning of therapy respectively) therefore periodically during treatment it is necessary to conduct examination of patients to exclude at them a prostate cancer.

Whether Penesterum exerts impact on the speed of psychophysical reactions and ability to concentration of attention, it is not established.

Pregnant women and women of childbearing age should avoid contact with the tablets Penesterum in the crushed look as финастерид it is capable to suppress transformation of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone owing to what disturbance of development of generative organs in a male fruit is possible. In this case tablets are covered with a film cover therefore if their integrity is not broken, the contact with active agent is excluded.
