Solkoderm

Solkoderm – the combined drug having the cauterizing and mummificating effect which is used for topical treatment of high-quality damages of skin.

Pharmacological action of Solkoderm

Solkoderm has local effect at treatment of superficial damages of skin which have high-quality character.

The complex of active components of drug influences an affected area of skin, providing intravital fixing with further mummification of fabric.

As a result of Solkoderm's use skin becomes colourless to a yellowish or pale gray shade, and afterwards, in process of a mummifying, is painted in dark brown color.

Several days later (and in certain cases – weeks) the mummified scab formed under the influence of drug gradually exfoliates.

As a rule, after Solkoderm's use according to reviews healing occurs quickly, at the same time emergence of cicatricial fabric or secondary infection are observed in rare instances.

Solkoderm according to the instruction does not make system impact on an organism as it is applied in the minimum doses.

Release form

Drug Solkoderm is produced in the form of colourless transparent solution for external use in which 1 ml contains:

• 41,1 mg of acetic acid of 99%;
• 580,7 mg of nitric acid of 70%;
• 57,4 mg of oxalic acid of a dihydrate;
• 48 mkg of copper of nitrate (II) of trihydrate;
• 4,5 mg of lactic acid of 90%.

Auxiliary component of Solkoderm – the water distilled.

In ampoules on 0,2 ml. The plastic applicator and glass capillaries is also included in the package.

Solkoderm's analogs

The closest analogs of Solkoderm on the mechanism of action are solutions for external use Duofilm, Verrukatsid and Kolomak.

Besides, Solkoderm's analogs in other dosage forms also have similar therapeutic effect:

• Ointment for external use – Anticorn, Sulphur-salicylic;
• Plaster – Mozolin, Urgokor.

Indications to Solkoderm's use

According to the instruction Solkoderm apply outwardly to treatment of high-quality changes of skin at:

• Nevocellular nevus which is previously checked for high quality (Naevus naevo-cellularis);
• Ordinary warts (Verruca vulgaris);
• Sharp-pointed condylomas (Condylomata acuminata);
• Bottom warts (Verruca plantaris).

Contraindications

Solkoderm according to the instruction it is contraindicated to apply:

• At malignant new growths of skin which are inclined to innidiation (including a malignant melanoma);
• On the inflamed sites of skin.

Besides, Solkoderm is not recommended to apply with the expressed tendency to formation of cicatricial fabric, and also to use for removal of keloid cicatrixes and freckles.

In pediatrics Solkoderm is allowed for use since five years.

Because of a lack of clinical tests it is possible to apply Solkoderm to pregnant women and the feeding women only according to indications under medical control.

It is necessary to show extra care at treatment of sites of skin by Solkoderm which were exposed to treatment by other methods or drugs earlier.

After the carried-out biopsy of an affected area of skin it is necessary to wait not less than 10 days then it is possible to begin treatment with Solkoderm's solution.

At accidental hit of Solkoderm:

• On healthy skin – solution should be removed immediately with the cotton plug moistened with water;
• In eyes – it is necessary to wash out their large number waters or alkalescent solution.

Solkoderm route of administration

Solkoderm is recommended to apply under control of the doctor or the qualified medical personnel.

Before putting drug the site of skin is processed, as a rule, ether or alcohol.

For Solkoderm's drawing on skin it is necessary to use the special plastic applicator which is available in packaging with the stupid and acute ends. For affected areas of skin, small on the area, the keen edge of the applicator is mainly used, and it is necessary to apply a blunt end to processing of the extensive centers of defeat.

In certain cases, as the alternative method of putting drug, is used the glass capillary which is also enclosed complete with Solkoderm. To fill a capillary, it for several minutes is immersed in drug solution.

Solkoderm is according to reviews recommended to put with care to avoid use of too large volumes of solution which can lead to damage of deep layers of fabric.

Solution in the volume which fabric is capable to absorb completely is considered optimum.

Before processing of the keratosic warts by Solkoderm it is recommended to remove an upper layer of a corneous layer previously.

At defeats of sites of skin with a diameter more than 10 mm Solkoderm it is possible to apply only in cases of pathological change only of an upper layer of skin.

Treatment by Solkoderm at the numerous centers of damage of skin is usually carried out in several steps, with an interval it is not less than a month. Optimum during each procedure to process no more than three centers of defeat. The total area should not exceed 2-3 cm2.

The site of skin processed by Solkoderm for several days dries up, forming a scab, and is painted in dark brown color. The repeated procedure at unsatisfactory mummification of the changed fabric is carried out in several days.

For fixing of effect of mummification of the changed fabrics which underwent treatment patholologically, about three once a day the tampon moistened with alcohol solution (70%) are recommended to process affected areas (especially after washing or acceptance of a bathtub).

After Solkoderm's use according to the instruction it is necessary to wait for spontaneous dying off of a scab. It is contraindicated to delete it with use of mechanical means to avoid formation of hems and disturbance of process of healing of fabrics.

Too high doses of Solkoderm can lead to damage of deep layers of skin, and in certain cases – to developing of acid burns.

Side effects of Solkoderm

Solkoderm according to reviews can cause insignificant local reactions:

• Moderate passing erythema;
• Short-term burning (as a rule, within several minutes after putting solution of Solkoderm);
• Around a solution site of application – the emergence of a white ring on healthy skin which is temporary and not demanding special treatment.

Seldom or never Solkoderm's use according to reviews can cause formation of cicatricial fabric and change of a xanthopathy.

At emergence of pain at the time of Solkoderm's drawing treatment is recommended to be interrupted.

At the expressed local irritation and a severe itch on sites of skin, adjacent to a drug site of application, it is recommended to use ointment with anesthetic effect or the cream containing glucocorticosteroids.
