Sodium sulfate – a purgative.
Pharmacological action
Sodium sulfate is a salt laxative.
Effect of drug is based on slow absorption of salt in intestines thanks to what in it water collects, receptors of intestinal mucous are irritated, the peristaltics amplifies, intestines contents are liquefied and removed.
Use sodium sulfate unlike laxatives of a plant origin, allows to clear intestines on all its length.
The laxative effect of drug is shown through 4-6ch. after use.
Means helps to remove also bile therefore it is possible to appoint it for removal of hypostases.

Produce sodium sulfate powder for preparation of solution for internal use.

Indications to Sodium sulfate solution use
Basic purpose of drug – treatment of acute locks. Use of sodium sulfate by preparation for holding diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, surgical manipulations on intestines is also effective.
Drug helps and at food poisonings since active ingredient detains absorption and intake of poisons in a blood stream.
Solution of sodium of sulfate is applied also after passing of antivermicular therapy. It allows to bring the dead of parasites and products of their life activity out of intestines and by that to prevent intoxication.
Some specialists recommend use of means by preparation for medical starvation. It is considered that the food remains in intestines negatively affect health at the beginning of starvation, especially at beginners.
Route of administration
Sulfate sodium solution the adult is appointed to accept in a dosage 15-30gr at one time.
For children the dosage of solution is calculated by years: 1gr for one year of life.
It is better to accept laxative on an empty stomach.
For preparation of solution 30gr of powder it is necessary to part in warm water.
Side effects
Solution can cause digestive disturbances, intestinal gripes, nausea, a plentiful urination.
Contraindications
Salt laxative is contraindicated at acute inflammations of an abdominal cavity: peptic ulcers of a GIT, an ulcer inflammation of a large intestine, a peritoneum inflammation, appendicitis, during periods, pregnancy, hemorrhoids in an acute stage, exhaustion of an organism, hypotension, at advanced age.
Long therapy sodium sulfate since it breaks absorbability of drugs and nutrients from food is contraindicated.
