Pharmacological action of Sumamed

Sumamed possesses bacteriostatic action, and in high concentration (by 4 – 8 times exceeding the minimum overwhelming concentration) also bactericidal. Its main active ingredient – azithromycin. On its basis there are such analogs of Sumamed as Azitrox, Zitrolid, Zimaks, Hemomitsin and others.

The mechanism of effect of drug is that it breaks biosynthesis of protein in a microbic cell, contacting its ribosomes. In a bacterium the metabolism and growth are broken, reproduction therefore it perishes is blocked.

Sumamed according to the instruction possesses a wide range of antimicrobic activity. It is capable to affect perniciously many species of bacteria – gram-positive (different types of streptococci and stafilokokk), gram-negative (a hemophilic stick, the causative agent of whooping cough, a gonokokka, a meningokokka, a gardnerella, a moraksella, a helikobakter), anaerobic microorganisms (clostridiums, peptokokk and peptostreptokokk).

Big advantage in comparison with other antibiotics is Sumamed's property as macrolead to get through membranes of cells and to influence effectively intracellular microorganisms (so-called atypical bacteria), for example, of a chlamydia, mycoplasmas, ureaplasmas, legionella.

It is known of the antiinflammatory effect of an antibiotic of Sumamed which is not connected with antibacterial activity directly. Such action is caused by antioxidant ability – impact on cyclooxygenase and formation of superoxidic ions of oxygen. One of antiinflammatory effects is reduction of a myxopoiesis in bronchial tubes because of oppression of formation of factors of a necrosis of a tumor, this property is especially valuable at treatment of respiratory infections at the patients suffering from a mucoviscidosis. Sumamed's use in complex therapy for this contingent of patients improves passability of respiratory tracts. It is possible because of disturbance of formation of alginate which covers colonies of a pyocyanic stick (it practically is always present at mucous membranes at a mucoviscidosis) from action of antibiotics.

Sumamed's analogs, as well as he, have special immunomodulatory characteristics by impact on cells of white blood – leukocytes. Sumamed stimulates immunity on fight against an infection and an inflammation, but also, in process of subsiding of infectious process stops already unnecessary immune attack. As well as to other analogs of Sumamed, the post-antibiotic effect is inherent to him. Release form

Sumamed produce 250 mg in the form of capsules; tablets, coated, on 125 mg and 500 mg; powder for suspension preparation inside on 100mg/5 ml in a bottle of 20 ml and Sumamed forte in the form of powder for preparation of suspension on 200 mg / 5 ml in bottles on 20 ml and 30 ml. Sumamed's use in an injection form for intravenous infusions is also possible, he is let out in the form of powder in bottles on 500 mg.

Indications to Sumamed's use

The antibiotic Sumamed is used in treatment of the infections caused by microorganisms, sensitive to it. The list of such diseases includes infectious damages of ENT organs (sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitises), respiratory system (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract (an urethritis, a cervicitis), skin and soft tissues, joints, in an initial stage of borreliosis. Contraindications

Drug do not recommend to use at intolerance it and other macroleads, at a serious illness of kidneys and a liver, during use of drugs of an ergot, during feeding by a breast. There are no reviews of Sumameda during pregnancy, in this case the advantage has to be more estimated risk for a fruit.

Application instruction of Sumamed

The drug forms for intake are taken in 1 hour prior to food or in 2 hours after it once a day, washing down with water. Especially for children, since 6 months, an antibiotic Sumamed produce in the form of powder for preparation of suspension with a dosage 100 mg / 5 ml and 200 mg / 5 in ml, and from 3 years – tablets on 125 mg. The dose is calculated on the child's weight - 10 mg/kg/days, the course of treatment lasts 3 days. At the chronic migrating erythema the scheme of treatment is a little another – in 1 day at the rate of 20 mg/kg/days, from 2 to 5 day – 10 mg/kg/days. To prepare suspension, add 11 ml of water to a bottle. Because during extraction of suspension from a bottle its losses are possible, the actual volume (25 ml) turns out a little more nominal (20 ml). Ready suspension of Sumamed is stored in the refrigerator not longer by 5 days, before the use it needs to be shaken up.

To adults and children 12 years are more senior more conveniently to take capsules on 250 mg and a pill on 500 mg. Swallow of them, without chewing. An average dosage – 500 mg once a day, a course 3 days. At borreliosis in 1 day 1 g, from 2 to 5 day on 500 mg once a day. At an uncomplicated urethritis or a cervicitis of a Chlamidia origin accept 1 g of Sumamed once.

Side effects

According to reviews Sumamed is well had to treatment time. Occasionally there can be against the background of treatment such undesirable phenomena as allergic dermatitis, headaches and dizzinesses, nausea, abdominal pains and diarrhea, joint pains, changes generally and biochemical blood tests, the general weakness, fungal infections mucous a mouth and genitals.
