Allotypes of immunoglobulins (Greek allos – another, excellent, other, the Greek types changed + – type, a sample) – groups of immunoglobulins which differ on genetically determined antigenic properties. Studying of allotypes of immunoglobulins is widely applied in genetics, clinic, anthropology, and also for the purpose of interpretation of structure of immunoglobulins.
