Anti-thyroid means (antithyreoidea; Greek anti-– against; opposite property, action, situation + annate. glandula thyreoidea– thyroid gland; synonym: thyreostatic means) – drugs which slow down synthesis of hormones of a thyroid gland and are applied at its hyperfunction (potassium perchlorate, mercazolil, potassium iodide, etc.).
