Appendectomy

Appendectomy (appendectomia; annate. appendix vermiformis – a worm-shaped shoot + Greek ektome – excision, cutting, removal) – surgery on removal of a worm-shaped shoot.

  • Appendectomy retrograde (appendectomia retrograda) – one of appendectomy options; during operation allocation from commissures of an appendix is preceded by bandaging and its cutting off from a caecum.
