Bekesha theory of hearing

Bekesha theory of hearing (G. Bekesy, Hungarian biophysicist, sort. in 1899; synonyms: the theory of a traveling wave, the hydrostatic theory of hearing) – the theory according to which primary analysis of sounds in a snail is explained by column shift endo-both perilymphas and deformation of the main membrane at the fluctuations of the basis of a stirrup extending in the form of a traveling wave towards a top of a snail.
