Hemangioma

Hemangioma (haemangioma; Greek haima – blood + angeion – a vessel + Greek Uma – оконч. in the name of tumors; synonym: a nevus vascular) – the benign tumor arising from blood vessels.

Types of a hemangioma:

  • Arterial (arteriale) – forming from vessels of arterial type;
  • Arteriovenous (arteriovenosum) – including gyrose thick-walled vessels of venous and arterial type in structure;
  • Venous (venosum) – arising from vessels of venous type;
  • Cavernous (cavernosum; synonyms: the cavernoma, a hemangioma cavernous) – consisting of vascular expanded cavities which are differentiated by connective tissue partitions and are covered by one layer of an endothelium;
  • Capillary (capillare) – consisting of capillary type of the small vessels adjoining on connecting fabric;
  • Capillary proliferating (capillare proliferans; synonyms: the hemangioma is hypertrophic, an angioma hyperplastic) – a hemangioma capillary, differing in considerable proliferation of an endothelium of vessels;
  • Arachnoid (araneum; synonyms: the nevus is arachnoid, a hemangioma star-shaped) – a skin hemangioma capillary, representing the red dot swelling raised over skin from which radially thin blood vessels depart;
  • Flat (planum) – a capillary hemangioma of skin in the form of the cyanotic-crimson spot which is turning pale when pressing;
  • Senile (senile; synonym: a hemangioma senile) – representing the soft dark red small knot of the size of a pin head consisting of the expanded numerous capillaries which are located in upper areas of a derma; it is observed at senile and advanced age.
