Vokadin

Vokadin – an antiseptic agent with bactericidal, antiviral and fungicidal property, according to a form of release is applied in stomatology, otolaryngology, gynecology, dermatology.

Form of release and structure

Dosage forms:

• Solution for topical administration (on 100 ml or 500 ml in dark bottles, in a cardboard pack 1 bottle);
• Ointment for topical administration (on 15 g in aluminum tubas, in a cardboard pack 1 tuba);
• Pessaries vaginal (on 14 pieces in aluminum strips, in a cardboard pack 1 strip complete with the applicator).

Active ingredient of Vokadin – povidone-iodine:

• 1 ml of solution – 10 mg that is equivalent to 1 mg of iodine;
• 1 g of ointment – 100 mg that is equivalent to 10 mg of iodine;
• 1 pessary vaginal – 200 mg that is equivalent to 20 mg of iodine.

Indications to use

Solution for topical administration

• Acute inflammatory diseases of an oral cavity, throat, including quinsy, a glossitis, aphthous stomatitis;
• The infected injuries of skin (burns, grazes, ulcers, wounds);
• Prevention of infection at various disturbances of integrity of an integument;
• Processing of mucous membranes to, in time and after carrying out surgeries in stomatology and otolaryngology;
• Antiseptic processing of hands of medical personnel, the patient's skin before the diagnostic procedure, before an operative measure.

Ointment for topical administration

• Infectious diseases of skin of a fungal and bacterial etiology, including trophic ulcers and decubituses;
• Prevention of infection of skin at cuts, small grazes, burns, carrying out small operations.

Pessaries are vaginal

• Acute and chronic forms of the vaginit caused nonspecific or multi-infection;
• The vaginal candidiasis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis strains, reception of antibiotics, steroid drugs.

Contraindications

• Heavy renal failure;
• Hyperthyroidism, adenoma of a thyroid gland, other dysfunctions of a thyroid gland;
• Herpetiform dermatitis of Dyuringa;
• Simultaneous performing therapy by a radioiodine or diagnostic procedures with its use;
• Pregnancy period;
• Individual hypersensitivity to iodine and components of drug.

Besides, Vokadin's use is contraindicated:

• Solution for topical administration: to children up to 6 years;
• Ointment for topical administration: the expressed liver failure, dekompensirovanny heart failure, the breastfeeding period, age till 1 year;
• Pessaries are vaginal: breastfeeding period.

With care it is necessary to appoint:

• Solution: at severe burns;
• Ointment: to patients of children's age.

Route of administration and dosage

Solution for topical administration

It is forbidden to swallow of solution!

Use in a divorced and pure look is shown. For cultivation it is necessary to dissolve 5 ml of drug in 1/2 glasses of water.

The mode of dosing is appointed by the doctor on the basis of clinical indications.

About 10 ml 2-4 times a day are recommended to apply to rinsing and washing of an oral cavity and a throat. Rinsing of a throat lasts no more than 30 seconds. Course of treatment 2 weeks.

In need of a repeated course treatment can be begun in 3-4 weeks.

Ointment for topical administration

Apply locally, applying with a thin layer on skin of affected areas of a body, previously having cleared them and having dried up. After putting ointment it is possible to apply a bandage the processed site.

The scheme and duration of use are appointed by the doctor.

The recommended dosing: at treatment of infectious pathologies of skin – 1-2 times a day; for prevention of an infection – 1-2 times a week during the infection threat period.

At daily use duration of treatment should not exceed 2 weeks. A repeated course should be conducted in 2-3 weeks.

Pessaries are vaginal

Apply intravaginalno, by deep introduction to a vagina by means of the applicator. For more convenient introduction the pessary is recommended to be moistened with water.

The dose and the period of use are appointed by the doctor on the basis of clinical indications.

Dosing mode: on 1 pessary a day before going to bed, at severe forms of infectious diseases – on 2 pessaries a day (1 morning and 1 evening). Course of treatment 1-2 weeks.

The repeated course of treatment can be carried out in 3-4 weeks.

During use of pessaries it is necessary to use hygienic laying.

During menstrual bleeding therapy is not interrupted.

Side effects

At topical administration of solution and Vokadin's ointment emergence of the following undesirable reactions is possible:

• Contact dermatitis, small tortoiseshell, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute anaphylaxis, Quincke's edema – at patients with individual hypersensitivity;
• Local reactions: a skin itch, a hyperemia, irritation, burning and pain in a site of application;
• Metabolic acidosis, hyperthyroidism, iodism symptoms (metal smack in a mouth, excessive salivation, a headache, parotitis, swelled an eye, throats and/or lungs, conjunctivitis, rhinitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, functional disturbances of the alimentary system) – at prolonged use of high doses.

Against the background of use of pessaries vaginal development of side effects is possible:

• Alimentary system: dispepsichesky phenomena, heartburn;
• Nervous system: short pain syndrome of various localization;
• Allergic reactions: small tortoiseshell, hyperemia of a mucous membrane and integuments, dermatitis, Quincke's edema, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute anaphylaxis;
• Others: a caumesthesia and morbidities in inguinal area.

Special instructions

Observance of therapeutic doses at topical administration promotes insignificant system absorption of iodine.

Solution contains alcohol.

Therapeutic action povidone-iodine decreases in the alkaline environment, and also in the presence of blood, pus, fat.

At use of drug it is necessary to adhere to recommendations of the attending physician strictly.

Medicinal interaction

Simultaneous use of Vokadin with others antiseptic and the disinfectants, medicines containing mercury, silver, enzymes, тауролидин, hydrogen peroxide and also with the benzoic tincture is forbidden.

Purpose of ointment and solution is not recommended to the patients receiving lithium drugs.

Povidone-iodine is incompatible with oxidizers, salts of alkaline metals, alkaloids, the substances with acid reaction and which are carrying out a role of reducers.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature up to 25 °C.

To protect ointment from influence of direct sunshine.

Period of validity: solution and ointment – 2 years, pessaries vaginal – 3 years.
