Actovegin

Actovegin concerns to group of medicines which influence processes of fabric exchange.

Active ingredient – the extract from blood of calfs exempted from protein.

Pharmacological action

Use of Actovegin promotes activation of a cellular metabolism. Thereof there is an increase in transfer and accumulation in cells of oxygen and glucose. Thanks to effect of Actovegin, energy resources of a cell raise. At a hypoxia, the increased consumption of energy for healing or recovery of fabrics Actovegin stimulates power processes of a metabolism in an organism. Also use of Actovegin strengthens blood circulation.

Indications to Actovegin use

According to the instruction, Actovegin is appointed in the following cases:

- insufficiency of cerebral circulation;

- ischemic stroke;

- craniocereberal injury;

- disturbance of peripheric circulation;

- angiopatiya;

- trophic disturbances at varicosity of the lower extremities;

- ulcers of various etiology;

- decubituses;

- burns;

- radiation injuries;

- damages of a cornea and a sclera (burns, ulcers, a keratitis, cornea attritions when using contact lenses).

Application instruction of Actovegin and dose

According to the instruction, Actovegin is appointed inside, locally and parenterally (passing a stomach).

Tablets of Actovegin appoint in a dose 1-2 pieces 3 times a day. It is necessary to take the Actovegin pill before food. The tablet of Actovegin is not chewed, and swallow, washing down with a small amount of water.

Pricks of Actovegin are appointed intravenously or intramusculary. The initial dose of drug is entered intravenously or vnutriarterialno in number of 10 or 20 ml depending on weight of a course of a disease.

Then appoint Actovegin pricks on 5 ml slowly intravenously or intramusculary once a day.

Intravenously kapelno appoint Actovegin once a day or several times a week on 250 ml of solution. Actovegin drip with a speed of 2-3 ml/min. Also apply 10, 20 or 50 ml of the drug divorced in 200 or 300 ml of normal saline solution or glucose. The course of treatment Actovegin makes from 10 to 20 injections.

Actovegin pricks, and also intravenous injections of drug should be carried out with care because of possible development of allergic reaction up to an acute anaphylaxis. At administration of Actovegin it is intravenously necessary to carry out control of indicators of water and electrolytic exchange.

According to the instruction, Actovegin is applied and locally.

Gel is applied to treatment of ulcers and wounds. At radiation injuries and burns gel is applied on a surface with a thin layer, at treatment of ulcers – thicker layer and close the struck place a compress with Actovegin ointment. Change such bandage once a week. The becoming wet ulcers should be tied up several times in days.

Use of Actovegin in the form of cream is reasonable for healing of wounds, decubituses, and also for prevention of radiation injuries.

According to the instruction, Actovegin in the form of ointment is applied on affected areas with a thin layer. Ointment is applied to treatment of ulcers, wounds, by healing accelerations, to prevention of decubituses and radiation injuries.

Eye gel Actovegin is applied on the affected eye, squeezing out one drop of gel from a tube. Apply eye gel to 2-3 times a day.

Side effects

According to the instruction in Aktovegina, drug can cause such by-effects:

- allergy (urticaria):

- perspiration;

- temperature increase;

- feeling of rush of blood;

- an itch at topical administration;

- dacryagogue, reddening of scleras (when using eye gel).

Contraindications to Actovegin use

Contraindication to use of Actovegin is hypersensitivity to drug components.

At pregnancy and a lactation

The indication to purpose of Actovegin at pregnancy is fetoplacental insufficiency (dysfunction of a placenta, its inability to support necessary exchange between a fruit and to mother's organisms).

Purpose of Actovegin at pregnancy is caused by the fact that fetoplacental insufficiency without treatment leads to disturbance of pre-natal development and a hypoxia of a fruit. It is necessary to consider that it is necessary to appoint Actovegin at pregnancy with care, watching a condition of the patient.

It is not recommended to apply Actovegin during feeding of the child a breast.

Storage conditions

Actovegin needs to be stored in the dry place at a temperature not higher than +8 degrees.
