Artezin

Artezin – synthetic drug with hypotensive and vasodilating action.

Form of release and structure

Artezin produce in the form of ploskotsilindrichesky tablets, white with a cream shade (10 pieces in planimetric packaging).

Active ingredient – доксазозин, in 1 tablet – 1 mg, 2 mg or 4 mg.

Excipients: cellulose microcrystallic, lactose, potato starch, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, povidone, silicon dioxide colloid.

Indications to use

Active ingredient of Artezin has hypotensive effect. The maximum lowering of arterial pressure in a standing position and lying it is noted in 3-6 hours after a single dose of drug and remains for all day. The medicine is effective at the hypertensia complicated by obesity and decrease in tolerance to glucose.

Drug also reduces risk of development of coronary heart disease, and after Artezin's use for two weeks permanent reduction of symptoms of a benign hyperplasia of a prostate is observed.

Artezin's use is shown:

• Treatment of arterial hypertension (as monotherapy, and along with other anti-hypertensive means);
• Treatment of a benign hyperplasia of a prostate (medicine can be applied both at raised, and with a normal arterial pressure).

Contraindications

Artezin's use is contraindicated at hypersensitivity to active ingredient – a doksazozin, and also to the derivatives of a hinazolon or other components which are a part of tablets.

It is possible to use drug at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation only according to strict indications as there are no reliable data about safety of its use during these periods.

Artezin in tablets on 2 mg and 4 mg to children and teenagers is not recommended to accept 18 years are younger.

It is necessary to be careful at use of drug at orthostatic hypotension, aortal and mitral stenoses and abnormal liver functions.

Route of administration and dosage

Artezin accept irrespective of meal on 1 tablet once a day in the morning or in the evening. The daily dose of drug and duration of treatment depend on a disease and are defined by the doctor.

The initial daily dose at arterial hypertension makes 1 mg of Artezin. Drug is accepted before going to bed, after reception of the first dose it is necessary to observe a bed rest for 6-8 hours to avoid development of the side effects which are shown a type of "a phenomenon of the first dose". If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, in several weeks the daily dose can be doubled. Further, gradually (each several weeks) a dose can be increased by 2 mg to effective which usually makes 8 mg.

It is not necessary to accept more than 16 mg of Artezin a day. After achievement of lasting therapeutic effect the dose of drug is recommended to be lowered to supporting which usually makes 2-4 mg of a medicine a day.

At treatment of prostatitis before therapy it is necessary to exclude malignant tumors of a prostate. The initial dose makes 1 mg of drug a day, if necessary increase up to 2-4 mg a day is possible. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 mg.

Side effects

At treatment of arterial hypertension Artezin most often causes orthostatic hypotension, especially in an initiation of treatment. Drug can also cause: a faint, hypostases, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, a headache, nausea, rhinitis, an adynamy, an indisposition, in rare instances – a myocardial infarction, stenocardia, bradycardia, disturbance of cerebral circulation, a heart consciousness, tachycardia, a stethalgia and arrhythmia.

At treatment of prostatitis by Artezin in addition to the above described side effects can be observed:

• Dryness in a mouth, a hypesthesia, a priapism, a hyperexcitability, impotence, paresthesias, a tremor, sleeplessness;
• Muscular spasms, arthralgia, weakness in muscles, a mialgiya;
• Alopecia;
• Skin rash, small tortoiseshell;
• Bronchospasm, short wind, cough, nasal bleeding;
• Dysuria, disturbance of an urination, hamaturia, polyuria, nocturia and incontience of urine;
• Gynecomastia;
• Lowering of arterial pressure, orthostatic hypertensia;
• Appetite loss, diarrhea, abdominal pains, hepatitis, lock, increase in activity of hepatic transaminases, dyspepsia, meteorism, jaundice, nausea, cholestasia;
• Purpura, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia;
• Illegibility of visual perception, sonitus;
• Dorsodynia, feeling of heat.

Alcohol intake can strengthen undesirable side effects.

At Artezin's use in the raised dosages development of the expressed lowering of arterial pressure which can be followed by faints is possible.

Special instructions

Drug can be used along with beta adrenoblockers, indirect anticoagulants, peroral hypoglycemic means, thiazide diuretics, furosemide, APF inhibitors, blockers of slow calcium channels, antibiotics and uricosuric means.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, sympathomimetic means and estrogen can reduce hypotensive action of Artezin. At simultaneous use of medicine it is necessary to be careful with inhibitors of phosphodiesterase because of possible strengthening of hypotensive action.

Because Artezin can cause orthostatic reactions at the beginning of therapy or during increase in doses, it is recommended to refrain from all potentially dangerous types of activity, including control of motor transport.

Analogs

Artezin's analogs are:

• On active agent: Cardura, Zokson, Doksazozin, Urokard, Tonokardin, Kamiren, Doksaprostan;
• On the action mechanism: Pyrroxanum, Ebrantil, Prorokon, Setegis, Kornam, Prazozin, Terazozin, Urapidil Karino.

Artezin treats the list B and the recommended drug period of storage – is released 3 years according to the recipe, at a temperature up to 25 °C.
