Clindamycin

Clindamycin – the antibiotic of a broad spectrum of activity which is released in various dosage forms for treatment of infectious diseases. It is widely applied in pediatrics.

Pharmacological action

Clindamycin belongs to antibiotics-linkozamidam.

Active ingredient has bacteriostatic action at use in therapeutic doses, and in high doses – bactericidal action on strains, sensitive to Klindamitsin. Clindamycin is widely applied including in pediatrics, at various respiratory diseases, the soft tissues, joints and bones caused:

• Propionibacterium;
• Eubacterium;
• Corynebacterium diphtheriae;
• Peptococcus;
• Clostrtidium tetani;
• Clostrtidium perfringens;
• Veillonella;
• Staphylococcus spp.;
• Fusobacterium spp. (except for F.varium which has stability);
• Streptococcus spp.;
• Bacteroides spp;
• Bacillus anthracis;
• Peptostreptococcus spp.

According to the instruction the majority of gram-negative aerobic bacteria, resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria meningitidis, and also viruses and mushrooms are steady against Klindamitsin (including yeast).

Clindamycin is produced in a look:

Indications to use

According to the instruction Clindamycin is applied at:

• Peritonitis;
• Osteomyelitis;
• To pleura empyema;
• Endometritis;
• Adnexitis;
• Purulent infections of skin and soft tissues;
• Lung abscess;
• Pneumonia;
• Purulent wounds.

Also Clindamycin is applied as a part of a combination therapy to prevention of peritonitis and intra belly abscesses.

Gel Clindamycin is applied outwardly, at treatment of acne rash.

Candles apply Clindamycin locally at the vaginoses caused by microorganisms, sensitive to drug.

Contraindications

According to the instruction Clindamycin is contraindicated at:

• Hypersensitivity to lincomycin or clindamycin;
• Heavy abnormal liver functions or kidneys;
• Myasthenias;
• To bronchial asthma;
• Ulcer colitis.

Clindamycin is not appointed aged about one month and to elderly people, appointed with care at digestive tract diseases in the anamnesis.

Clindamycin is contraindicated to use at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation for introduction inside and parenterally.

Intravaginalny use of Clindamycin is possible only according to strict indications.

Application instruction of Clindamycin

The dose of Clindamycin and the choice of its dosage form depend on a disease, disease and age.

At heavy infections and diseases of an abdominal cavity Clindamycin according to the instruction is applied in the form of injections. At easy forms usually enter a day 1,2-1,8 g, and at heavy – 2,4-2,7 g divided into 2-4 receptions. In one step it is not necessary to enter more than 600 mg of Clindamycin.

Candles Klindatsin are intended for treatment of an infection of urinogenital ways and prevention of vulval inflammations, and also apply it during preparation for various gynecologic operations. Usually the course of treatment candles Clindamycin makes three days, on one suppository a day.

Candles Clindamycin cannot be applied along with other vaginal drugs, and also from calcium a gluconate, ampicillin, barbiturates and erythromycin. Clindamycin at simultaneous use with the drugs blocking neuromuscular transmission strengthens their action.

Side effects

Clindamycin causes various side effects.

After use metal smack, phlebitis, abscess can intravenously appear. After reception of the tablets Clindamycin – the phenomena of an esophagitis, an abdominal pain, diarrhea, diseases of a liver and jaundice.

Rather seldom there can be small tortoiseshell, a reversible leukopenia, fever, a Quincke's edema, a neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, an agranulocytosis, lowering of arterial pressure, weakness.

At use of candles Clindamycin – a vaginitis, a cervicitis or vulvovaginal irritation, and at cream use Clindamycin – insignificant skin allergic reactions.
