Ksalatan

Ksalatan – drug with protivoglaukomny action.

Form of release and structure

Ksalatan produce eye 0,005% in the form of drops: transparent, colourless (in polyethylene bottles droppers with control of the first opening, on 2,5 ml, on 1 or 3 bottles in a cardboard pack).

Is a part of 1 ml of drops:

• Active agent: латанопрост – 0,05 mg;
• Auxiliary components: sodium chloride – 4,1 mg, dihydrosodium phosphate (monohydrate) – 4,6 mg, anhydrous hydrosodium phosphate – 4,74 mg, chloride a benzalkoniya – 0,2 mg, water for injections – 995 mg.

Indications to use

Ksalatan appoint for decrease in the increased intraocular pressure at an open angle glaucoma or the raised intraocular tension.

Contraindications

• Age till 1 year (efficiency and safety of use Ksalatana for this age group of patients is not established);
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Pregnant women can use drug only after assessment of a ratio of advantage of the carried-out therapy with possible harm to a fruit (due to the lack of adequate controlled researches).

Ksalatan it is necessary to apply with care in the presence of the following diseases / states:

• Aphakia, pseudo-aphakia with a rupture of the back capsule of a crystalline lens;
• Risk factors of development of macular hypostasis (at Ksalatan's use cases of developing of macular hypostasis, including tsistoidny are described);
• Risk factors of development of a uveitis/iritis;
• Inflammatory, neovascular glaucoma (because of insufficiency of data on safety and efficiency of use of drug at these diseases);
• Bronchial asthma, herpetic keratitis in the anamnesis;
• Lactation period.

It is not recommended to apply Ksalatan at patients with a herpetic keratitis (recurrent or in an active form), in particular connected with reception of analogs _{of F2α prostaglandin}.

When planning an operative measure concerning a cataract Ksalatan it is necessary to apply with care.

Route of administration and dosage

Ksalatan dig in in the affected eye, it is more preferable – in the evening.

To all age groups of patients Ksalatan appoint on 1 drop once a day.

For decrease in possible system effect of drops, right after instillation it is recommended to press for 1 minute on the lower lacrimal opening (it is located at an internal corner of an eye on a lower eyelid).

Side effects

During Ksalatan's use the following side effects can develop:

• Respiratory system: an asthma, a bronchospasm (including bad attacks or an exacerbation of a disease at the patients having instructions on bronchial asthma in the anamnesis);
• Nervous system: headache, dizziness;
• Musculoskeletal system: muscular and joint pains;
• Integuments: rash, local skin reactions on centuries, darkening of skin a century, a toxic epidermal necrolysis;
• Organ of sight: irritation of eyes (burning sensation, an itch, a pricking, feeling of a foreign body and sand in eyes), a conjunctiva hyperemia, a blepharitis, eye pain, strengthening of pigmentation of an iris, passing dot erosion of an epithelium of a cornea, periorbital hypostasis, the century, conjunctivitis, erosion and hypostasis of a cornea, a thickening, lengthening, increase in number and strengthening of pigmentation of vellus hair and eyelashes, a keratitis, a uveitis/iritis, macular hypostasis (including tsistoidny), change of the direction of growth of eyelashes swelled (can cause irritation of an eye), growth of an additional number of eyelashes over meibomian glands, the obscured sight, changes in area of eyelashes and in periorbital area (can lead to deepening of a furrow of an upper eyelid), dryness of a mucous membrane of eyes, photophobia;
• Invasions and infections: herpetic keratitis;
• Others: nonspecific stethalgias.

At patients with a diabetic retinopathy during therapy cases of development of an embolism of an artery of a retina, amotio of a retina and a vitreous hemorrhage were noted.

At considerable damages of a cornea very exceptional cases of emergence of calcification of a cornea are recorded that is connected using fosfatsoderzhashchy eye drops.

At children at Ksalatan's use in comparison with adults development of a nasopharyngitis and fever was more often noted.

Special instructions

It is not necessary to increase frequency rate of use of Ksalatan as it can lead to easing of the effect lowering intraocular pressure.

At the admission of the procedure, the next dose needs to be entered into usual time.

Ksalatan it is possible to apply along with other classes of the local ophthalmologic medicines promoting decrease in intraocular pressure. At use of several drugs it is necessary to observe an interval not less than 5 minutes.

Ksalatana who is a part a benzalkoniya chloride can be absorbed by contact lenses because of what they need to be removed before an instillation. It is possible to establish them again in 15 minutes.

Active agent of Ksalatan can lead to gradual increase in contents in an iris of a brown pigment. As a rule, discoloration slightly can be also clinically not established. Drug does not influence on лентиго and a nevus of an iris of the eye; accumulation of a pigment in an anterior chamber of an eye or in trabecular network is noted.

In cases of strengthening of pigmentation of an iris therapy can be continued, however patients with such disturbance have to be under regular observation, depending on a clinical situation Ksalatan's use can be stopped.

At a drug instillation a heterochromia can develop only in one eye.

During treatment cases of darkening of skin a century which, as a rule, has reversible character are described.

Ksalatan can cause gradual changes of vellus hair and eyelashes in the form of lengthening, thickenings or strengthenings of pigmentation, increase in density and change of the direction of growth of eyelashes. Changes of eyelashes are reversible and take place independently after therapy cancellation.

During therapy short-term misting of sight can be observed. To drive the car or to carry out other types of works for which visual acuity is necessary it is necessary with care.

Medicinal interaction

At simultaneous use of two analogs of prostaglandins paradoxical increase in intraocular pressure therefore such combinations are not recommended is noted.

Ksalatan is incompatible with eye drops with the maintenance of a tiomersal.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in protected from light, the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature of 2-8 °C.

Period of validity – 3 years.

Ksalatan after opening of a bottle it is possible to use for 4 weeks on condition of its storage at a temperature up to 25 °C.
