Mizoprostol
Application instruction:
Mizoprostol – the drug used for medicamentous abortion.
Form of release and structure
Mizoprostol release in the form of tablets: round, white (on 3 pieces in aluminum blisters with an aluminum covering, on 1 blister in a cardboard pack).
Active agent – powder мизопростол GPMTs (hydroxypropyl marked cellulose) in a proportion 1:99 is a part of 1 tablet:
- Mizoprostol – 0,2 mg;
- Gipromelloza – 19,8 mg.
Auxiliary components: sodium carboxymethylstarch, microcrystallic cellulose, castor oil, colloid silicon dioxide.
Indications to use
Mizoprostol appoint for abortion on early terms (up to 42 days of an amenorrhea) in combination with mifepristone use.
Contraindications
- Diseases of cardiovascular system;
- Endocrinopathies and diseases of endocrine system, including dysfunction of adrenal glands and a diabetes mellitus;
- Diseases of kidneys and liver;
- The diseases connected with prostaglandinovy dependence and also contraindications to use of prostaglandins, including bronchial asthma, glaucoma, arterial hypertension;
- Anemia;
- Hormonal and dependent tumors;
- Use of intrauterine contraceptives (Mizoprostol's reception is possible after their removal);
- Suspicion on an extrauterine pregnancy;
- Lactation period;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.

For the purpose of abortion drug should be used in institutions with prepared for holding a procedure by personnel.
Mizoprostol take in a dose 2 pill (0,4 mg) in 36-48 hours after reception of 3 tablets of mifepristone.
Side effects
At Mizoprostol's use on early durations of gestation development of nausea, vomiting, slackness, dizziness, pains in the lower part of a stomach is possible.
In extremely exceptional cases can arise: rushes of blood to the person, an itch, fervescence, allergic reactions.
Special instructions
Mizoprostol on early terms it is necessary to apply to abortion along with mifepristone. The procedure can be carried out only in the specialized medical institutions having opportunities of rendering the emergency surgical hemotransfusionic and gynecologic help.
Before administration of drug for 4-6 hours it is necessary to watch a condition of the patient. After Mizoprostol's use the qualified medical care has to be provided in cases of developing of massive bleeding or at development of other complications.
Approximately at 80% of women after Mizoprostol's reception the abortion occurs within 6 hours, at 10% – within 7 days.
In 8-15 days after use of drug it is necessary to undergo repeated inspection in the same medical institution. If necessary carry out ultrasonography or determine the level of a chorionic gonadotrophin in blood serum. At suspicion on preservation of pregnancy or incomplete abortion it is necessary to conduct comprehensive medical examination timely. At confirmation of the diagnosis in 10-14 days after Mizoprostol's reception it is necessary to carry out vacuum aspiration with the subsequent histologic research of aspirate for the purpose of drug impact assessment on formation of inborn malformations at a fruit.
Medicinal interaction
Long use of antidepressants, isoniazid, rifampicin, anticonvulsant drugs, Cimetidinum, acetylsalicylic acid, barbiturates, indometacin, and also smoking more than 10 cigarettes a day reduces Mizoprostol's level in blood serum (because of increase in his metabolism).
For 7 days after Mizoprostol's reception it is recommended to refuse use of aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
