Nifuroksazid

Nifuroksazid – drug with bactericidal and antibacterial action.

Form of release and structure

• Tablets, coated: round, biconvex, smooth, bright yellow color (on 24 pieces in blisters, in a cardboard box 1 blister);
• Suspension for intake of 4%: light yellow color, with sweet taste and a banana smell (on 90 ml in bottles, in a cardboard pack 1 bottle complete with a measured spoon).

Active ingredient: нифуроксазид, in 1 tablet – 100 mg, in 5 ml of suspension – 220 mg.

Excipients of tablets: gelatin, potato starch, talc, polyethyleneglycol, gipromelloz, Ti dioxide, Mg stearate, Si dioxide, quinoline yellow.

Additional substances of suspension: monohydrate of citric acid, Na hydroxide, симетикон, sucrose, methylparaben, carbomer, water the prepared, banana essence.

Indications to use

• The acute and chronic diarrhea caused gram-positive (streptococci and stafilokokka) and some gram-negative (Klebsiella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Salmonella) bacteria;
• The toxic diarrhea caused by gram-negative bacteria (Klebsiella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Salmonella) at children is more senior than 2 months;
• Diarrhea at chronic autoimmune gastritis, appendicitis and food intoxications;
• The diseases which are followed by diarrhea;
• The diarrhea caused by changes of a natural bacterial flora of a large intestine of a different etiology, and also an antibioticotherapia;
• Chronic colitis and coloenterites;
• Intestinal dysbiosis.

Besides, Nifuroksazid is applied to prevention of infections after carrying out band operations.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to components of drug or nitrofuran derivatives – the main contraindication to Nifuroksazid's use.

In pediatrics medicine in the form of suspension is not appointed to premature children and children up to 2 months, in the form of tablets – to children up to 6 years.

During pregnancy drug can be used only according to vital indications if the expected advantage surpasses possible risks.

Route of administration and dosage

Nifuroksazid's tablets to adults and children are more senior than 6 years appoint 2 pieces 4 times a day (each 6 hours) within 5-7 days.

In the form of suspension medicine is recommended to the children who did not reach 6-year age. Dosing mode:

• Children from 2 to 6 months: on 2,5-5 ml (^1/2-1 measured spoon) 2 times a day;
• Children from 6 months to 6 years: on 5 ml (1 measured spoon) 3 times a day;
• Children are more senior than 6 years and adults: on 5 ml (1 measured spoon) 4 times a day.

Just before reception suspension should be shaken up carefully (before receiving homogeneous mass).

Side effects

Usually Nifuroksazid is had well, dispepsichesky frustration and short-term strengthening of diarrhea are in rare instances possible. These side effects, as a rule, do not demand drug withdrawal and additional treatment.

In some cases there are allergic reactions (rash on skin and an asthma) which are the indication for the termination of the carried-out therapy.

Special instructions

At treatment of acute diarrhea it is necessary to fill the liquid lost by an organism (parenterally or orally, depending on a condition of the patient).

Nifuroksazid it is impossible to apply as monodrug at treatment of the diarrhea accompanying sepsis since its action is limited to digestive tract.

During treatment it is impossible to take alcoholic beverages as there is a high probability of development of disulfiramopodobny reaction.

Negative impact on the speed of reactions and ability to concentration Nifuroksazid does not pay attention.

At storage of drug in the form of suspension formation of an insignificant deposit which after stirring has to be returned to a condition of a homogeneous suspension is possible.

Medicinal interaction

When carrying out a combination therapy it is necessary to consider what нифуроксазид is characterized by high adsorptive properties.

Nifuroksazid does not interact with system drugs as it is not soaked up from digestive tract and in blood it is found only in trace concentration.

Terms and storage conditions

To store at the room temperature (17-25 ºС) in the place unavailable to children protected from light. Not to freeze.

Period of validity – 2 years.
