Panthenol

Panthenol – the pharmacological drug from group of reparant used for treatment of wound surfaces and burns.

Structure and form of production of Panthenol

Active ingredient – декспантенол. There are various forms of drug for external use – ointment, cream, spray.

Ointment contains Panthenol of 5% for external use in 1 g 50 mg of active active ingredient and auxiliary components (lanolin, вазелиин, liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, митилпарагидроксибензоат, cholesterol, пропилпарагидроксибензоат, water). Ointment homogeneous, light yellow color with a pleasant smell of lanolin. Ointment on 25 or 50 g of drug in a tuba is produced.

Cream contains Panthenol of 5% for external use in 1 g 50 mg of active agent and auxiliary components (the ketomacrogoal, цетанол, tsetearit октаноат, диметикон, glyceryl monostearate, propylene glycol, propilparagidroks benzoate, methylparahydroxybenzoate, water, fragrance). Cream of white color, homogeneous, with specific aroma. Cream on 25 or 50 g of drug in a tuba is produced.

Spray Panthenol (an aerosol for topical administration of 4,63%), is produced in aluminum barrels on 58 and 130 g.

Pharmacological action

Drug has regenerative effects (stimulates epithelization and healing of integuments), and moderate antiinflammatory action. Dekspantenol stimulates healing and recovery of layers of skin, normalizes cellular exchange, strengthens durability of collagenic fibers. At damage of integuments and fabrics (at injuries, burns, diseases) Panthenol is capable to fill shortage of pantothenic acid which derivative it is.

According to the instruction of Panthenol at local use it quickly is soaked up and turns into pantothenic acid then contacts plasma proteins.

Indications to Panthenol use

Panthenol is applied at disturbances of integrity of integuments, owing to injuries, burns (thermal, chemical) and other reasons.

• burns of various genesis (thermal, solar, chemical);
• grazes, scratches;
• dermatitis (including a diaper dermatitis at babies), an intertrigo;
• cracks and inflammatory changes of nipples of mammary glands at the feeding mothers;
• prevention of negative action on skin of environmental factors (wind, a frost, dampness, etc.);
• treatment of trophic ulcers of various genesis, decubituses, extensive wound surfaces (for ointment Panthenol);
• processing of integuments around trakheo-, gastro-, kolosty for the purpose of prevention of emergence of damage of integuments.

Ointment Panthenol can be also used in treatment of badly beginning to live skin transplants. As the additional source of fats and products of pantothenic acid this drug can be used for processing of very dry skin.

From burns it is better to use Panthenol in the form of spray as the excipients which are contained in it help to get better into deep layers of skin and also give the cooling effect.

Route of administration and doses
