Afferentation

Afferentation (Latin afferens, afferentis – bringing) – a flow of nervous impulses which come to the central nervous system from intero-and eksteroretseptor. Anokhin P. K., the Soviet physiologist, the academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1898-1974), offered the following terms applied to designation of types of an afferentation:

  • Afferentation the return – the principle of work of functional systems of an organism consisting in carrying out constant assessment of useful adaptive result comparison of its parameters to parameters of an acceptor of result of action;
  • Afferentation obstanovochny – a component of afferent synthesis which represents impact on an organism of all external factors making a specific situation against the background of which adaptive activity proceeds;
  • Afferentation starting – a component of afferent synthesis which realizes already created prestarting integration of vozbuzhdeniye in the behavioural act; the conditioned excitator belongs to a characteristic type of an afferentation starting.
